Psalm 30.3-4 COMMUNION ANTIPHON They ate and had their fill, and what they craved the Lord gave them; they were not dis- appointed in what they craved. Psalm 77.29-30 1st Reading: Ecclesiasticus 15.15-20: As humans, we are able to make choices which do either good or bad. We are not slaves to our impuls- es but have the God-given ability always to seek out what gives life. Response to the Psalm: They are happy who follow Gods law. 2nd Reading: I Corinthians 2.6-10: In Christ and through the Holy Spirit, God has given us a wisdom that the world can never offer. This leads to a richer and deeper way of living and a contem- plation of the things of God. Alleluia! Alleluia! Speak, Lord, your servant is listen- ing: you have the message of eternal life. Alleluia! Matthew 5.17-20: Jesus comes to complete the Law and the Prophets of the Old Testament. He does this by showing that true religion is based not on obeying a law or a rule but rather comes about through a personal encounter with God. For us this encoun- ter happens through Christ and offers us a new way of living and being. The moral life flows from this experi- ence and enable us to choose the good always. ——————————————————————————————————————————————— Please pray for the eternal rest of Catherine Macdonald whose Requiem Mass took place on Friday. May the Lord embrace him in his arms of mercy and comfort and console her family at this time of their loss. Our next meeting of preparation for the Sacrament of Rec- onciliation takes place this Wednesday 15th February from 7-8pm in the Church Oratory. Parents and adult family members are invited to attend. The purpose of the meetings is to help you accompany your children more fully in their learning about the sacrament and to give you the opportunity to deepen your own faith. Catholic Education week begins this Sunday. During it, we celebrate the importance of educating children and young people in faith. If you would like further information on becoming a teacher in our Catholic schools, please contact the Catholic Education Service at: [email protected] There will be a 2nd collection next weekend to support the work of the Scottish Catholic Education Service. Our Childrens Liturgy Leaders are invited to a meeting in the Church Oratory this Thursday 16th February at 7pm. Please let Fr Magill know if this is unsuitable. Motherwell Diocesan Pilgrimage to Fatima. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the apparitions, a pilgrimage led by Bishop Joseph Toal has been planned for 3rd-8th October 2017. Community Building Agency - Lenten Small Faith Sharing Groups A preparation evening for Lent will be in the Xavier Centre, Carfin on Thursday the 23rd February at 7.30pm. Father Dominic Quinn will lead the evening. He will be reflecting on Pope Francis’ Ap-ostolic Letter, “Misericordia et Misera”. In the letter Pope Francis considers what happens now that the Jubilee Year of Mercy is over. We hope you will encourage as many people as possible to come along as these evenings are not exclusively for small group participants. Our own parish faith-sharing group starts meeting again the week beginning 26th February through Lent for 6 weeks. Why not consider joining? Please sign up on the sheet in the porch.

CHURCH ROOF REPAIR: Work to replace and repair the damaged roof beam gets underway on Monday 13 February. Pictures of the decay and damage to the beam will be on display in the transept for the next couple of weeks. Repair work is scheduled to take four days during which time celebration of Mass and access to and from the church will continue as normal. The repair work is guaranteed for twenty years. Once this work is complete tender arrangements will be drawn up to get work started on the redevelopment of the transept into the new Multifunction Area. When these are available drawings and detailed plans for this area will be put on display within the church to keep everyone up to date on planned developments. “

CONGRATULATIONS to our parishioner Mrs Frances Jamieson who has been chosen as the Crowning Lady in the Carluke Gala 2017.

RAMBLERS: There will be a meet-ing in the Hall this Thursday 16th February at 6.30pm to decide the walks for the new session.
