    INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Sixth Form The Sixth Form comprises 2 years of full time study, namely Year 12 and Year 13. This is a challenging time in a students life, yet a stimulating and rewarding one. It is a course for students who are serious about their education, and whether it is for self improvement or in preparation for university, students are supported and encouraged to work and achieve to their fullest potential.

Minimum requirements for sixth form entry Choosing individual areas of study should be based on interest and future career plans. We encourage students to take a wide diversity of subjects, which will equip them in the best way possible for their futures. The student is required to have a grade C or above in a minimum of 5 IGCSE or GCSE subjects and these should include English and Maths. A grade B is preferred in the subjects to be studied at AS level.

GCE Advanced supplementary and GCE Advanced Qualifications GCS Advanced Supplementary AS) A qualification obtained when studying 3 modules of a subject. These are normally taken in Year 12. GCS Advanced (A2) A qualification obtained when studying a further 3 modules in a subject. This qualification is normally taken in Year 13. Often a student will choose to study 4 or 5 AS subjects in Year 12, 3 of which will be carried on to A level in Year 13. It is a strong recommendation that students include Spanish in there qualifications during the Sixth form. Students who have already obtained a GCSE pass in the subject will do the AS level and students who enter the sixth form without the GCSE pass in Spanish, can study at GCSE level.

What is expected of life in sixth form? Students are expected to be fully involved in college life. As the Seniors of the college, students may be elected as prefects, and as such they help the PE department, the library, the primary department with reading to younger children, helping with ICT etc. Students are offered career advice and helped with applications to Universities in the UK, Spain, other countries in Europe and the rest of the world.

Options This booklet contains a comprehensive directory of current subject options. The college reserves the right to eliminate options should there be an insufficient number of students wishing to enroll on the course.
