Daniel – Leaders maintain the resolve without regard for consequences. 1. Being in a leadership position does not shield from but exposes you to all manner of attack.

Daniel 6:1-4 (NKJV) “It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom; 2 and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss. 3 Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. 4 So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him.”

A. Man’s Jealousy

Genesis 37:4 (NKJV)

“But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and

could not speak peaceably to him.”

1 Samuel 18:8 (NKJV)

Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David

ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the

kingdom?”

Matthew 20:12 (NKJV) saying, ‘These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them

equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’

Luke 15:28-29 (NKJV) “But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. 29 So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.”

B. Conspiracy will often result

Daniel 6:4-9 (NKJV) “So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him. 5 Then these men said, “We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.” 6 So these governors and satraps thronged before the king, and said thus to him: “King Darius, live forever! 7 All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal

statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions. 8 Now, O king, establish the decree and sign the writing, so that it cannot be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter.” 9 Therefore King Darius signed the written decree.”

Proverbs 11:21 (NKJV) “Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; but the posterity of the righteous will be delivered.” Proverbs 16:5 (NKJV) “Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; though they join forces, none will go unpunished.”

C. Envy

Daniel 6:3-4 (NKJV) 3 Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. 4 So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him.” Proverbs 14:30 (NKJV) “A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones.” 1 Corinthians 13:4 (NKJV) “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up.” James 3:14 (NKJV) “But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.”

2. Dance with who brought you.

A. Daniel’s faith in his God is what bought him to prominence.

Daniel 6:10 (NKJV) Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.

Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Job 17:9 (NKJV) “Yet the righteous will hold to his way, and he who has clean hands will be stronger and stronger.”

3. Confidence in your God will see you through the rough places.

Daniel 6:20 (NKJV) And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”

A. God helps His children

Isaiah 50:7 (NKJV) “For the Lord GOD will help Me; therefore I will not be disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed.”

Psalms 28:7 (NKJV) “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.”

Psalms 40:13 (NKJV) “Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; O LORD, make haste to help me!”

Psalms 40:17 (NKJV) “But I am poor and needy; Yet the LORD thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God.”

Psalms 54:4 (NKJV) “Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.”

Psalms 56:9 (NKJV) “When I cry out to You, Then my enemies will turn back; This I know, because God is for me.”

4. Great leaders simply follow Daniel’s example.

A. Pray anyway

Mother Teresa - ANYWAY People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

5. When they come to see how you are doing let them see three (3) things.

Daniel 6:16-21 (NKJV) So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. But the king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you.” 17 Then a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the signets of his lords, that the purpose concerning Daniel might not be changed. 18 Now the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; and no musicians were brought before him. Also his sleep went from him. 19 Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions. 20 And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” 21 Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever!

A. God’s divine ability

Daniel 3:17 (NKJV) “If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.”

Matthew 3:9 (NKJV) ...and do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

Romans 4:21 (NKJV) “And being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.”

2 Corinthians 9:8 (NJV) “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”

Philippians 3:21 (NKJV) “Who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”

2 Timothy 1:12 (NKJV) “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.”

Hebrews 7:25 (NKJV) “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

Jude 24 (NKJV) “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.”
