given by the purchaser on all straight bevel gearjrawings as well

on the Drawing1.1 The following information shall be indicated on
the drawing:

aLOCATING FACE
Fig. 1a) Tip diameter and tolerance;b) Face wldth;c) Tip
angle:d) Angle of the back cone ( and, if applicable, inner cone
);e) Bore diameter and tolerance ( or diameter and tolerance for
the part of the shaft used folsetting on the cutting machine):f)
Locating face(s);g) Distance to the locating face ( see Fig. 1
):
1) from the pitch cone apex ( locating distance ) and tolerance,
a,2) from the pitch circle, 6,3) from the tip circle of the tip
cone (tip distance) and tolerance, c,4) from the tip circle of the
inner cone, d, and6) from the inner face, e;
h) Surf&e finish of the tooth flank and if applicable, of
the root surface and of the fillets.

unit module );Root angle or dedendum angle;Tooth thickness ( see
Note 1 ): basic value and its upper and lower~deviations;Quality
grade;Shaft angle of the gear pair and tolerance;Number of teeth
and drawing number of the mating gear;Condition of gear, such as
ground, burnished, finish cut and lapped; and
r) Any other requirement of quality and tolerance,Note 1 The
height at which the tooth thickners is to be measured shall be
given.Note 2 -The material for the gear blank ( see IS : 15174969
Speciflcatlon for steels for hardenlng and tempering )shall be
given in the title block of the drawing.
2.2 Any other lnformatlon useful to the gear manufacturer may
also be piovlded for-the manufactureand inspection of the teeth as
requtred by the particular form and characterlstlcs of the gear.
Inparticular the following Information may be included:

The necessity of ensuring the firm location of the body of
the-gear on fhe cutting machinewill require that the support and
clamping faces (which should be perpendicular to theaxis) and their
permissible axial runout shall be indicated; andFor shafted pinions
and wheels the bores of which will not be used as reference for
center-ing, it Is necessary to specify the maximum radial runout of
the surface which serves asdatum for checking the centering before
commencement of cutting.
