Goals:
Personal- Be a compassionate, caring, and giving individual that leads others to
achieve happy and healthy lives by providing an example. Specifically, I will
work to maintain a healthy relationship and set the groundwork for a strong family
life within the next 5 years.
Career- Achieve a board certification for pediatrics through AOTA within the next
10 years in order to remain the most current in evidence-based research and
challenge my professional development to achieve higher credentials. This will
help to make me a better professional and an asset to any potential employer
Educational- Pursue a clinical doctorate program within the next 10 years to
enhance my education, expand my horizons and build my professional skillset.
Recreational/Leisure- Be a strong, independent and resourceful member of
society that takes charge of personal volunteer experiences to make a positive
impact on the lives of members of my community within the next 5 years.
Specifically, gain an office position within a non-profit organization to provide my
personal and professional skills to a good cause.
Reflection:
In order to accomplish these goals, I will need to be determined and have the
discipline that I have provided into my education thus far. I will need to develop my
communication skills and confidence in order to express my feelings in a cooperative
and productive approach. These are skills of a leader that I can improve upon and will
help me to accomplish all of these goals throughout my life.
Specifically, moral and personal accomplishments will be heavily influenced by
my personal development. Development on personality traits such as compassion,
empathy, seeing situations from multiple perspectives, being less self-centered and
more aware of the feelings of others around me will help me to be a better life partner
and mother. Again, these personal developments will enhance my growth in other
leadership goals.
Furthermore, I have hopes to achieve a board certification in pediatrics from
AOTA in order to enhance my resume and skill set. This will challenge me and push
me to be a leader in my profession by accomplishing something that very few have.
Next, my goals to pursue a clinical doctorate degree assist me in being leaders in
the field of occupational therapy by providing me the education and experiences to
guide best practice and confidently guide other professionals to achieve their goals.
This will enhance my credentials and better prepare me for traditional leadership
positions and management positions within a company.
Last, my leisure goals include a personal quest to become a stronger volunteer
force in society. This is a personal goal to be the best person I can be and lead a life as
a positive role model for others. Leisure time is best spent for me making a difference
in the lives of other people. I hope to grow into a position within a non-profit
organization to help develop my life’s work and make a positive difference in my
community. I will need to be more adventurous, confident and out-going to seek out
these events and demonstrate my qualifications for these new and different roles.
Personal maturity, growth and confidence in my strengths, weaknesses and
abilities will help me to achieve these leadership goals across all aspects of my life.
