OPERATING ADJUSTMENTS

Adjusting Front Wheel Tread Width Standard Tractors

On tractors equipped with adjustable front axle, front wheels can be set in tread positions varying as shown in the table below by moving the axle extensions in or out, as required. The axle extensions are provided with three locating notches and are held in place by clamping bolts (1) Illust. 23.

610 7.50 - 16 1480 7.50 - 18 1476

* Factory adjustment

Reversing the wheels, i.e. turning concave disk sides outwards will extend the front wheel tread width by an additional 140 mm.

Tighten front wheel bolts to 15 daNm torque.

To adjust wheel tread proceed as follows:

Jack up tractor under front axle. Remove clamping bolts (1) IIlust. 23 and pullout spring clip (4). Loosen clamps (3) on tie rod.

Now pullout front axle extensions an equal distance on both sides to the desired tread position. Line up locating notches. Insert bolts (1) and tighten to 28 daNm torque.

Adjust the tie rod to conform with the tread width.

Replace spring clip (4) and tighten tie rod clamps (3).

MAINTENANCE ENGINE

Tilting the Engine Hood

All major units of the tractor are arranged in an easily accessible position.

Generally, tilting of the engine hood is only necessary when servicing the radiator, air cleaner or battery. Pro· ceed as follows:

Remove muffler.

Illust.56 Engine hood tilted up

1 - Lock lever 2 - Engine hood 3 - Radiator grille

Pull both lock levers (1) Illust. 56 outwards and tilt up the engine hood as illustrated.

When closing the engine hood take care not to injure your fingers. Turn lock levers toward the rear to secure the hood position.

Changing Engine Oil

The new engine is filled with break·in and preservative oil which must be replaced with regular engine oil after the initial 20 operating hours (at the first inspection). Thereafter, service at the regular scheduled intervals.

Note: When using Diesel fuels with more than 1.5% sulphur content, it is necessary to change the oil more often.

Illust.57

1 - Oil drain plug 2 - Oil filter 3 - Oi I fi Iter socket 4 - Oil filler tube 5 - Oil level gauge 6 - Oil pressure switch 7 - Engine breather filter

1. Remove the oil pan drain plug (1) Illust. 57 and drain all oil from the crankcase while the engine is warm. Remove the oil level gauge for proper ventilation to speed up draining.

2. When the old oil is completely drained replace the drain plug (1), using a new packing ring.

3: Fill up crankcase with the specified brand to the upper mark (max) of the level gauge (5).

4. Run the engine at medium speed approx. 2 min.

5. Stop engine and allow oil to settle for approx. 10 min. Check oil level and fill up to the upper mark if necessary.

6. Replace the oil filter every time the engine oil is changed.

Oil Filter

The engine is equipped with an oil filter which continually cleans the oil while the engine is running. All impurities separated from the oil accumulate in the oil fi Iter element.

When the parking brake lever can be pulled back too far the brake requires adjustment as follows:

Loosen lock nut (2) Illust. 91. Remove pin (4). Turn clevis (3) up on the rod (1) until the correct adjustment is obtained. Reinstall pin (4) and tighten lock nut (2).

If the whole adjustment range is used up, brake linings require replacement.
