Speed, Balanced and Unbalanced Forces

• Velocity = distance / time• Balanced forces are equal and opposite• Unbalanced forces are not equal• An object speeding up is positively accelerating• An object slowing down is negatively accelerating• An object going at a constant speed has balanced

forces• An object accelerating (positively or negatively) has

unbalanced forces• Friction is the force that acts in the opposite direction

of a moving object and slows it down.
