Inequalities with “AND”• The solution set is the area where it is
true for BOTH inequalities.
• Symbol: ∩ “Intersection”
• EX. x < 2 and x ≥ -1
Inequalities with “OR”• The solution set is the area where it is true
for ONE OR BOTH of the inequalities. Symbol: U “Union”
• EX. 2a + 1 < 11 or -2a < 2
Examples:A.) Graph the solution set of
y ≥ 5 and y < 12.
Examples:B.) Solve 7 < x + 2 11. Then
graph the solution set.
Examples:C.) Solve and then graph the
solution set.
