This installation guide is for first time or new COMPRESS installations using a USB security key
shipped after June 22, 2009.
If you are upgrading to a new Build of COMPRESS from an existing installation or are using a
USB security key shipped prior to June 22, 2009 please see the COMPRESS Installation
Guide for Upgrades available from our Support Center (http://www.codeware.com/support).
Ensure your computer meets the system requirements outlined on the previous page. To install COMPRESS you must have Local Administrator privileges on your computer.
This can be verified by selecting Start > Control Panel > User Accounts. If you do not,
please contact your IT department.
It is strongly recommended that you exit all other running programs before installingCOMPRESS.
Make sure the COMPRESS USB security key (hardlock/dongle) is NOT attached to thecomputer.
COMPRESS installation CD COMPRESS online download available from:

A new USB security key ships enabled with the purchased options. A password file is not used
during this installation.
Upon renewing your Support and Update Service (SUS) subscription or making additional
license purchases, a password file (.cw2c) along with application instructions will be emailed to
your account contact. Applying this password file to your key extends your SUS and/or
activates your purchase.

1. Launch the installation of COMPRESS from one of the sources listed above on yourcomputer. DO NOT connect your USB security key to your computer.
2. If the User Account Control popup appears, select Yes to continue.
3. If your operating system is a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008, youwill need to install additional HASP drivers:
a. You will not be able to run COMPRESS without these drivers. Click the InstallHASP driver button to download the drivers.
b. Select Run when prompted with the download choices to manually completethe installation of the drivers.
c. You may select Continue without installing the driver, but you will need toperform this installation prior to running COMPRESS.d. The driver installation package is also available on the COMPRESS installation
CD and from our online Support Center: http://www.codeware.com/support.

4. After reading the instructions on the welcome screen click Next to continue.
5. Please read the License Agreement. Accept the terms of the license agreement andclick Next. If you do not wish to accept our license agreement, click Cancel and
return the software to Codeware.

6. When prompted enter your Name and Company Name.
7. Choose the Destination Location for this COMPRESS installation. It is recommendedthat you accept the default folder of C:\Codeware\COMPRESS_XXXX (COMPRESS
Build number).

8. In the Setup Type window make the selection according to your license type:Single (green or purple USB security key)

9. Click Install to begin the installation.
10.Click Ok to accept the notification and proceed with installing the Codeware KeyUpdate Utility.

11.Select Next to begin installing the Codeware Key Update Utility.
12.Accept the license agreement and click Next.

13.Select Install to begin the installation. If you want to review or change your installationsettings, select Back.
14.Click Finish to exit the InstallShield Wizard.

15.Select No to continue the installation without updating the USB security key. USBsecurity keys shipped after June 22, 2009 are already updated. If your USB security key
was shipped prior to June 22, 2009 please see the COMPRESS Installation Guide for
Upgrades available from our Support Center (http://www.codeware.com/support).
16.Wait for the InstallShield Wizard to install COMPRESS.

17.Connect the COMPRESS USB security key to an available USB port on your computer.Click Finish to complete the installation process. You have completed the installation
process.

At times it may be necessary to repair the COMPRESS installation. The COMPRESS Repair
option will replace the installation files and restore the COMPRESS installation.
To repair COMPRESS:
1. Select Start > Programs > Codeware > COMPRESS XXXX > Remove, RepairCOMPRESS.
2. Click Next to continue to the Repair operation.

3. The COMPRESS maintenance screen will appear. Select Repair and then clickNext.
4. Click Install to continue with the Repair operation.
5. The Repair operation will automatically reinstall all program features installed by theprevious setup. A repair finished screen will appear when the operation is complete.

COMPRESS design files should not be saved and maintained in the COMPRESS folder. These
files may be deleted when COMPRESS is uninstalled. To uninstall COMPRESS:
1. Select Start > Programs > Codeware > COMPRESS XXXX > Remove, RepairCOMPRESS.
2. Click Next to continue to the Remove operation.

3. The COMPRESS maintenance screen will appear. Select Remove and then clickNext.
4. Click Remove to continue with uninstalling COMPRESS, Back to return the themaintenance screen or Cancel to exit the uninstall program.
5. A confirmation screen will appear when COMPRESS is successfully uninstalled.
