Hotel and housing are the problems. You must take an early C01.mt as to the number coming, how many vlant hotel reservations. Our coubhouse can take care of single fellovis up to 35 for we have double decker beds .
We must knOvl in advanc e how many vJant to bowl; golf; fishing; Haleakala Crater visit; cribbage; ping-pong, etc. Tell us what you folks want in the vlay of recreation. Through the courteqy of Blue Nagasaki, the clubhouse new sports a GE 10 cubic foot refri gerator. He got tired of seeing the smaller ore being overworked, so he got a new one far himself and turned his old one over to the club .
Nanbara, who has been out of circulation far quite a ,mile, vall be opening up his ovm place called Club Hibari. This is the location of the old Bob's Tavern, just over tre bridge approaching the Kapio-1 ani , King and Waialae junction. Alvin is the son of the late John Hat ori , one-time top kick of B Company, 100th Infantry Bn. He is married to the former Margaret Ono ani the conple are the proud parents of a son. They live out in Aina Haina on Leighton Street.

THE KOOKINJ- KORNER
'Tis said that t he watercress shira ae that Mrs. Robert Sato, the attractive wife of our popular executive secretary contributed at one of the Able Chapter family dinners was very delicious, so we asked her for her recipe and she graciously obliged with three recipes for the following Japanese dishes:
Watercress shira ae
1 bunch watercress 1 can shirataki
Rinse and cook watercress in boiling salted watero Drain and cut into 2 inch lengths. RiIlS e shirataki, drain well, cut like the watercress, put into a dry ~lgrea3ed frying pan and cook IIDtil all the water is gone. ?repare shira ae sauce and mix.
Cabbage goma ae
30il shredded 1/2 small head cabbage 3 to 5 minutes and mix .lith goma ae sauce, which ('equires the following:
1-1/2 tsp goma, pan roasted and ground
1 tbsp. sugar 2 tbsp. shoyu 1/4 tsp . aji

Shira ae sauce
2 tsp. goma (sesame seed) 1/2 block tofu 4 tbspo miso 2 tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. aji
Pan-roast goma and grind in suribachi. Add tofu which has been boiled and excess water squeezed outo Grind well. Add seasoning, watercress a rrl shirataki, and mix ''leli. Note - aburage, toasted over direct flame and cut into fine strips, may be added.
AWAYUKI
1 stick kanten 1-1/2 c water 1-1/2 c sugar 1 egg white juice of 1 lemon rind of 1/2 lemon
Rinse kanten in cold water, squeeze dry. Add It/ater ani let soak for about 15 minutes. Cook over medium fire until kanten is dissolved. Add sugar and ~ook until sugar is dissolved. In a large bowl, beat egg white until stiff. Strain thru a wire strainer til e slightly cooled kanten into the

egg white little by little and continue beating constantly. When well blended , add lemon juice and rind. Pour into desired pan or mold and cool.
This recipe fills a square $'~ by $11 pan nicely.

sent out by House Committee chairman Bob Kadowaki.
Actually, the project can be divided up into three phases: 1 - painting, 2 - carpentry, 3 - feeding.
For the painti ng phase of the project, Bob had ever reliable YOSHIO INOUYE as the big luna. But Yoshio was more than just that. Besides doing a little painting, he vras the purchaser of the paints, after his estimation job had been cond~cted days prior to this work weekend. He supplied the majority of the ladders and platforms and canvases needed, besides doing all the paint mixing that was necessary. And, due largely to his effort, time and sacrifice, the cost ,dll be very, very surprisingly low. Just you watch and seel Thank you for a job well done, Yoshio!
Of course, credit should go also to a couple of deserving "pros" ~ho amazingly completed the painting of the ceiling and surrounding high walls - dancing on the scaffolds so lightfootedly - Hideo Doi and Ben Kobayashi.

This year, the Maui members will be hosts during the Labor Day weekend. Stanley Hasumoto, the Haui go-getter, has informed the Oahu Convention Committee about the tentative program set up to date. There \-Till be s.ome additions made.
A big luau \·n.ll climax the convention on Sunday night, Sept. 4. Friday night, Sept. 2, will see a beer-bust and fellowship gettogether at the Haui clubhouse . other event s scheduled are a golf tournament at Viaiehu, trip to Haleakala, dancing, bowling, and a possible train ride from Kahului to Pauwela.
The chapter representatives have the necessary forms which each member is required to fill out if he is interested in attending the convention on Haui. Plane schedules and reservations are noted in table above, and reservations must be in by August 6, which is a full month prior to convention time. So look over the schedule carefully and make your requirements known as soon as possible .
