September – 132 September YTD – 148
God, who is the giver of every good gift, you are ever present
in our lives and in the world. You act through us, your people,
to care for and provide for everyone.
We pray for the courage to break out of our insecurity and
fear around money as we deepen our understanding of our
relationship to you and how we use our financial resources to
do your work in the world.
We pray these things that we might know you better, that
you will increase our desire and ability to give and help others
through ministry and friendship and to gratefully commit
ourselves to the work you have given us to do. Amen.

Make sure you attend the Saints’ Brew Open House on November 3. We will be serving
breakfast from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. Parishioners, civic leaders and sponsors of Saints’ Brew
are invited to help celebrate our 10th anniversary.
In the past few months our daily crews have assisted with gathering data on our
guests, information needed for our United Way grant request. During this one-week time
period we had 82 guests fill out our survey. Fifty of our guests identified as male and
the remaining thirty as female. Of our female guests, 3% are under the age of five, 3%
are between the ages of six to eighteen, 31% are nineteen to forty in age, 47% are
between the ages of forty-one to sixty and 16% are over the age of sixty.
Our guests who identified as male are broken down into three main age groups. Males
from ages nineteen to forty make up 32% of our male guest population. Thirty-four
percent are forty-one to sixty in age and our over age sixty male guests make up 32%
of male population. Only one guest, 2% of the male group, was between the ages of six
to eighteen.
The majority of our guests eat at Saints’ Brew either four or five days a week. For
many it depends on their work schedule or how much money they have to buy food.
Almost of all of our guests expressed appreciation for the food but the fellowship of
coming to Saints’ Brew was equally important.
Your continued support is always appreciated. We always can use donations of cereal,
coffee, sugar, creamer and canned fruit. Monetary donations are also appreciated.
A new way to make donations to Saints’ Brew is through our GoFundMe account,
www.gofundme.com/saintsbrewtupelo. Feel free to share this on your social media
accounts. With GoFundMe you can use your debit or credit card to make a donation and
all donations are tax deductible. -Mona Warlick

Shepherd’s Center is a group of adults dedicated to offering
transportation, minor home repairs, and social gatherings to senior adults. The meetings, open to all, begin with refreshments at 9:00 a.m., followed by the program. All Saints’ will host the meetings in November and December. Volunteers are needed to provide refreshments and help with hosting. A sign-up sheet is located in the church or you may contact the office, Betty Lee Marshall or Martha Ann Staub to volunteer.
The Shepherd’s Center is also in need of volunteer drivers. The Center will provide insurance for drivers/riders and schedule the rides. In 2016, the Center provided 1,285 rides in Tupelo, Pontotoc and Saltillo. For more information visit www.sctupelo.org.
FOR ALL THE SAINTS All Saints' Day (November 1) is a celebration of all Christian saints, particularly those who have no special feast days of their own, in many Roman Catholic, Anglican and Protestant
churches. In many western churches it is annually held on November 1 and in many eastern churches it is celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost. Fun Fact: The NFL team, the New Orleans Saints, takes its name from All Saints’ Day, due in part to the large Catholic population of New Orleans.
continues to serve All Saints' parishioners as we are made aware of
pastoral needs. Thank you to all of our faithful volunteers who are committed to serving our parish. If you would like to join T.H.E. C.A.R.E. T.E.A.M. in service, please contact Vicky Vance or the church office.

like for them to know
we support them and
are thinking about them! Our committee will send a

to let them know that we will be praying for them
during this phase of their life.
If you would like for your college student to
receive a “care box”, please let us know their name,
mailing address at school and their expected
month/year of graduation. You can email the info

Anyone wanting to be a part of this committee
please let me know and I will contact you when it is

The Never-ending Task of Reformation
For the past year it has been
All Reformation All the Time! Now what?
“Jesus tells us in the text for Reformation Day that we will know the
truth, and the truth will set us free. Whatever our dwelling place,
ethnicity, religion or political belief, the truth is that we are all beloved
children of God, worthy of care and compassion. The law of faith
compels us to love those whom we may not like. The law of faith urges
us to listen compassionately to those with whom we will disagree on all
sorts of matters. The truth sets us free from the fear of reaching across
that divide where true reformation and transformation begins”.
And for this reforming, radical command,
thanks be to God!”

The Happening Experience
is a powerful weekend of
renewal for young people
in the Episcopal Church.
Participants explore deeply
what it means to believe in
Jesus and to be part of the
Body of Christ. Through
large and small group
discussions, meaningful experiences of worship
and prayer, new friendships, and laughter
participants learn about the rich connection
between faith and the challenges of daily life.
There’s also plenty of music, games, fun and
great food! The cost is $30 per person and
scholarships are available through the diocese.

Catechesis of the Good
Shepherd and youth Sunday
School will not meet on Sunday,
November 26. We will resume
our studies on Advent I, Sunday,
December 3.
CHRISTIAN FORMATION
CATECHESIS
of the GOOD
SHEPHERD
Sundays
9:30 a.m. Here’s what we’ll be
exploring with your
children in November…
Level I (age 3 – Kindergarten) As we move toward Advent, the children will explore the town
of Bethlehem, to become familiar with the language of the
prophecies and the geographical lessons about Jesus’ birth.
They will also explore the mystery presented by the prophet
Isaiah, written in the book of Numbers, that a king will rise out
of Israel. We’ll look at The Annunciation to Mary that God
would take human form in the person of Jesus and will ponder
the “chosen-ness” of Mary.
Level II (1st – 3rd grades) - The children will revisit and
enjoy anew the messianic prophecies, allowing us to discover
new riches in the promises and in their fulfillment, both at the
time of Jesus’ birth, the time we are living now, and the time
we await at Parousia. They will ponder Jesus, true God but
also a man born into a human family, carefully chosen and
prepared by God.
Level III (4th – 6th grades) - The focus for this level is
the Plan of God as worked out in the Bible and human history.
The children explore the growth of the Kingdom of God and
people’s collaboration with or opposition to it. The Paradigm
of Creation-Redemption-Parousia guides a more thorough
exploration of scripture, particularly the Old Testament.
