Dear Friends,
guardian angel community services joins together with you in celebration of 121 years of service to the community! It is a pleasure to share our 2018 annual report, recapping the fiscal year of July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018, during which time we reached over 63,000 people through our 7 essential programs, that empower people to improve the quality of their lives.
survivors of domestic violence secured a safe haven and support services in our 24-hour emergency shelter via groundwork, and beyond that were able to obtain transitional housing and support services through suzy’s caring place. parenting classes were provided through our Exchange club center for the prevention of child abuse and Neglect, and Foster care protected children in care, while also providing counseling and adoption services for youth and families. our sexual assault services center helped survivors of sexual assault process their trauma and heal, while prevention education participants were reached by the thousands. our partner abuse Intervention program helped individuals learn adaptive behaviors and coping mechanisms to eliminate the option of violence as a solution to any relational conflict. gacs’ newest program, adult protective services, continued to respond to an extraordinary demand for services and helped 3,658 at-risk elderly adults & adults with disabilities during its second full year in operation.
We had an unforgettable celebration at our angelica: Dancing With our Local stars gala. This is always a joyous occasion during which local stars join hands with professional dancers for a spectacular night of fellowship and entertainment. memorable awareness events were hosted throughout april, sexual assault awareness month and october, Domestic Violence awareness month. We held rock against rape and Walk a mile in Her shoes® events, and hosted our 9th annual angels against abuse 5K, with hundreds of supporters turning out for this worthy cause.
guardian angel’s annual report represents the collaborative efforts of our staff, administration, Board of Directors, and all of our loyal donors, and community members who help us to help those who need it most. We are grateful beyond measure for your support.
