IntroductionWelcome to the release notes for version 2.42 of the Trimble GPS Pathfinder ToolsSoftware Development Kit (SDK).

To integrate these objects into your own customized GPS application you can useprogramming environments such as the following Microsoft development systems:

Visual Studio 2008

Visual Studio 2005

Visual C#

Visual C++

Visual Basic

The applications you develop can be used on any computer powered by one of thefollowing operating systems:

Windows Mobile version 6 operating system

Windows Mobile version 5.0 software for Pocket PC

Windows 7

Windows Vista

Windows XP

Changes to this version of the SDK

The SDK includes the following new features:

Support for Model 2 of the GPS Pathfinder ProXRT receiver.

Support for the Trimble Juno SD handheld.

Version 2.42 of the SDK no longer supports the Trimble GPS Pathfinder Pocket andGPS Pathfinder Power receivers.

Antenna settingsIf you intend to postprocess your GNSS data using the postprocessing engine in the

GPS Pathfinder Office software version 4.20 and later, Trimble Strongly recommendsthat you select the antenna correctly. The new postprocessing engine in the GPSPathfinder Office software version 4.20 is more sensitive to antenna selection than wasthe case in prior versions. Because of this, the accuracy of postprocessed positions maybe significantly degraded if you collect an SSF file that either does not specify theantenna type that was used during data collection, or specifies it incorrectly.

Call the PFTSSFWriter.ShowAntennaSettingsDialogmethod. This presentsthe user with a list of available antenna types, from which they can select theantenna type they are using.

Call the PFTSSFWriter.SetAntennaSettingsmethod. This allows the antennatype and associated parameters to be set programmatically, either to a fixedvalue if known, or to a value obtained from a custom configuration file, customUI, or some other source.

Developers Guide

The GPS Pathfinder Tools SDK Developer's Guide is provided as a PDF file and isinstalled with your copy of the GPS Pathfinder Tools SDK. The guide is a usefulintroduction to the SDK as it provides general information for each of the majorfunctional areas of the GPS Pathfinder Tools SDK. It provides useful practical advice ondeveloping your own application using the SDK, as well as background information ontechnical topics such as real-time differential correction, postprocessing, andcoordinate transformation. The guide also provides installation and applicationdeployment information.

To view the GPS Pathfinder Tools SDK Developer's Guide, selectAll Programs/ Trimble /GPS Pathfinder Tools SDK 2.42 /Developer's Guide from the Windows Start menu.

Note The GPS Pathfinder Tools SDK Developers Guide is version 2.40.
