Doing business in Ukraine is different from business in other countriesincluding the USA, England, Germany and other northern and centralEuropean countries. Here we see that foreign expatriates say about

how the business culture in Ukraine differs from other countries. Donot be surprised that most comments here are negative. Culture ofUkraine are naturally very oriented production, and may not be theeasiest place to do business, but Ukraine has other virtues - forexample, is a great place to make friends, meet interesting people,and have fun.

Accuracy and reliability in UkraineForeigners in Ukraine find that it is too late is the norm for theUkrainians. Control and regulation of entitiesare often unpredictable act, based on rules that nobody else knows.We often hear the word "non transparent" with regard to the Ukrainiangovernment processes. What does this mean? This means that the

rules and principles of government bodies comply with the dischargeof their functions are poorly formulated and not available to thegeneral public. This lack of formal, laid-in-stone information ismaddening to many Ukrainian businessmen and foreigners. Even if itseems that the rules should be recorded, "evidence" (or "colors," whatthey want to say in Ukraine ), such as selecting agents office hours,availability of necessary forms, and more than expected lines caneasily throw everything in unison. It seems that nothing has been doneto make the system work more smoothly and efficiently. Western

businessmen often know exactly what changes should be made to thesystem to make our lives easier, but never made. What is the reason?

The immediate reason seems to be that all these contradictions,redundancies, and the disruption that allows government agencies tokeep businesses and citizens in a state of uncertainty andsubmissiveness that can exploit for their own benefit, if necessary .Historically, different types of corruption has flourished in Ukraine, andcompanies are forced to seek personal relationships with officers ofgovernment for their safety and access to information. In most westerncountries are usually not critical to the success of companies inperson to have good contacts in government agencies. In Ukraine it is.This situation often seem threatening and dangerous for Westerners,

and it's really hard to adjust. To effectively run a large company inUkraine, should be adapted to existing communication styles, to someextent, even if you feel like you are "compromising your principles."Remember - they come from your upbringing and can not be absolute,like you used to think.

Leadership style in UkraineForeigners from the West will find some different styles of leadershipin Ukrainian organizations. The Ukrainians do not take personalresponsibility so easily and west of society which prepares them forleadership roles from kindergarten up. After becoming a leader, manyUkrainians become more authoritarian and change their attitudetowards their colleagues, who themselves have an ingrainedsubservient attitude toward authority - a well known feature ofUkrainians, especially the Russians.

Among the Western entrepreneurs, democratic and fair leadershipstyle is definitely more common, and leaders are more likely todelegate. In Ukraine, the leaders tend to focus more decision-makingin the hands of their faith and allegiance to demand their employees inconjunction with work-related skills. In the new capitalist Ukraine,many employers resort to exhaustive and aggressive interrogationtechniques designed to weed out "weak" potential employees who cannot take the heat or pressure dislike.

Job search and discrimination in UkraineIt is common for vacancies in Ukraine to determine the age andgender of potential employees. Fortunately, she and other personalinformation such as marital status given to the top of the CVs ofvirtually all Ukrainians. Another option is to create your own business and register. Although

the law requires a work permit to work for someone else, you work for

yourself with the same rights as Ukrainian. Foreigners have createdmany successful business language teaching, bars and nightclubs,

and even publishers. Starting up a business can be difficult if you do

not Ukraine or Russia and Ukraine have not for ages. You can create

market in Ukraine has grown rapidly. Apartment prices in Kiev and

other major Ukrainian cities have "gone through the roof" in the past

several years. Happy indeed, investors who bought real estate

(apartments) in cities of Ukraine in the early '90s for a few thousanddollars and have seen their property increase in value by an average

of 20-40% a year ago. Add to that revenues from the rental apartment

and have a very profitable advantage!

- Many investors decided to enter the market of Ukraine since the

Orange Revolution (November-December 2004), which showed that

the country has strong democratic and European orientation, and will

probably continue to move in that direction. As we see below, theacquisition of real estate in Ukraine is not difficult.

Property, assessment models

- Property assessment began in early 1990 after the Ukrainian

economy hit bottom and was particularly strong in Kiev, Odessa, Lviv,

Dnepropetrovsk and other cities. Shortly thereafter, the value in resort

areas of the Crimea began climbing, and now real estate prices in

Yalta are often even more than in Ukraine's capital Kiev. In the late'90s began rising property values in the Carpathian region and other

Ukrainian factory buildings and modernization of equipment

Business: manufacture plastic films used for packaging candy,

agricultural bagging and packaging, containers of dairy products

(bags), packaging, detergents, food packaging, etc. (Ukraine has a

vast field of food processing.)

Amount required: $ 6 - $ 10 million to upgrade facilities and

equipment. (Potential for joint venture.)

-

Market: The manufacturer is looking for a position the company to

benefit from two market opportunities. The first is manufacturing

packaging to customer specifications allow for direct sale to the

Kyiv Post Employment Ads

The most interesting job advertisements in the English language is the

site of the Kyiv Post and the weekly editions of the newspaper Kyiv

Post. However, you will notice that the focus is on jobs for locals

speaking English, not foreigners. The largest audience Kyiv Post is an

English-speaking Ukrainians. Positions are advertised tend to be

Most likely you will choose the "single tax" option (one of three options

for taxation). This is the best choice for consultants, language, and

other specialists. You will have a fixed monthly tax consists of two

parts, one end tax set by local tax authorities of around 20-200 UAH

(usually 200 Hryvnia), and a contribution to the insurance fund

(essentially, social security) currently 84 UAH. This means your

monthly fixed charge would be over $ 54 dollars, regardless of your

monthly salary (as long as your annual income is under $ 100,000

USD)!

Tax payment schedule

Ukrainian law requires foreigners to register their passports in Ukraine

United States and possibly in some other countries). Registration is

valid for up to 6 months and may be extended. The purpose of

registration is for the state to know is you, and make sure there is a

donor or calling party may be fine if they break laws on immigration. In

Register your passport will occupy an entire page of your passport. It

will show the registration period, the name of the calling party, and

where you live in Ukraine.

Requirements for registration

The actual registration process can be time consuming itself. The

forms you need depends on the type of visa. If you have a private

visa, you will only need forms for you and the person calling you home

or where you live on. If you have a business or service visa, you will

need a form for you, for the person whose house you live in, and the

organization will be invited.Employers hiring foreign workers and obtain a work permit usually

take care of passport registration as well. In addition, there are

services that will cater for all the formalities for you, saving you many

visits to OVIR and local utility services ("ZHEK").

To submit your passport to a private visa, you will need:

a copy of your passport (including visa page and the latest entrystamp)

passport of the person calling

your form and format of the call party

proof of payment of registration fees (probably 33 UAH, or $ 6.50

USD), which you usually pay a bank next to or inside the building

OVIR

You need to ask the officers to OVIR the exact amount of paymentand where to do so. There will also be a small handling fee bank of 5

UAH or less.

Confirm these conditions officers OVIR before bringing your

documents for recording. May require additional documents, for

example, a lease agreement or a stamp ZHEK (local housing office

utilities) on the implementation of the calling party.

Seal the ZHEK

The purpose of this stamp is to confirm that ZHEK know that someone

else will live in this address. The ZHEK is responsible for utilities and

building maintenance, as well as issuing passports to citizens of

Ukraine and anything related to establishing residence in a particular

location.

done by the owner of apartment living at. The ZHEK may ask to see

the "alien" in his passport as well, and may or may not require the

homeowner to fill out another form that says you can stay in their

apartment through a certain date. The ZHEK must know the number

of people living in the apartment, to compute the cost of utilities for the

apartment. As a result, many homeowners are not thrilled about

having to register a foreign (or any rentors) office ZHEK.

If you are in Ukraine on a business, service, or other type of visa otherthan the requirements listed above should also:

a completed form from your organization call

a copy (not notarized is fine) organization or government company

registration certificate (indicating when and where the organization

was registered and legal address and name of official)

a copy (not notarized is fine) organization or business license bureau

of statistics (as shown in the organization of activity)IMPORTANT: The purpose of the registration forms for requesting

parties is to make sure that someone will pay for breaches of

immigration law and deport you if the case may be. These parties

should not necessarily be the same parties will be invited for a visa

you. It can technically be any organization or individual who is willing

to take administrative responsibility for you while you are in Ukraine.

Visas:Canadians do not need visas to enter Ukraine if you do not intend to

permit to be eligible for employment in Ukraine is a certain peculiarity

of the situation of foreign workers. This process is governed by

existing labor laws of Ukraine and other legislative acts of Ukraine.

Foreign nationals may immigrate to Ukraine is temporarily employedand working in accordance with a duly issued license.

contract. Consequently, a company may enter into any civil contractwith a foreigner for the provision of services.

Salary is paid in foreign currency of Ukraine. Meanwhile, employers

should not forget about paying taxes and various fees. Currently the

tax rate on income from wages, regardless of the source of payment,

payable in a foreign employer is 15% of the tax base. Insurance fees

must also be considered.

Under current law, each company must pay all fees from the salary ofan alien in the manner and in accordance with the rates down for

citizens of Ukraine, except to pay for the state compulsory social

insurance case of unemployment.
