L-9 1860’s Reidinger & Caire Stoneware jugThere was a time when jars and jugs were strictly utilitarian in nature. They held milk, butter, flour and sugar, and occasionally, if you werelucky, they even may have held whiskey or wine. Containers like thiswere cherished, not so much for their aesthetic beauty or their out-standing quality, but because without them you and your family wereat risk of not being able to properly store whatever it was that neededstoring. Today we are fortunate to have the luxury of being able toappreciate this Reidinger and Caire stoneware jug for not only what itwas, but for what it is: a work of art and a piece of our Hudson Valleyhistory. Generously donated by DCCF supporter Jim and Lori Brands.

L-10 Diamond NecklaceEven though, like Malcom Forbes, you might think that diamonds arenothing more than chunks of coal that stick to their jobs, let’s behonest: Marilyn Monroe never said truer words than when she cooedthat diamonds are a girl’s best friend. And they are. They are the bestpossible kinds of contradictions: Cool yet fiery... subtle yet sparkly.Win this ravishing 14k white gold ½ carat (3-stone) diamond pendantnecklace for the woman you love, and drape it around her AudreyHepburn neck. She’ll never let you forget how much she loves it oryou.

Generously donated by DCCF BoardMember Sue Doyle and her husband Rob, make mutually agreeablearrangements for anytime in 2010 directly with them.

L-12 Car DetailingI know you’re thinking that the love I have for my car, by now, hasdiminished. After all, it’s only a car. But you’d be wrong. And whilemy husband constantly reminds me that it is an inanimate object, Iremind him that it’s loved almost as much as he is. And that when Islide onto my heated leather seat, program my navi for a day on theroad, and crank my current favorite XM station, it is all I can do to notweep with joy over the sheer prospect of being within its safe, strongwalls. How, then, could I possibly allow my floor mats and power-windows to be anything less than picture perfect? I simply can’t. AndI’m sure you feel the same way about your car, which is why you willhappily bid away for this wonderful item. Win this bid and get your carbeautifully detailed from tip to tail by George Mann. Compliments of James Earl Jones andHoratio Productions.

L-14 Windsor Rocker, Circa 1820While the rocking chair is as American as apple-pie, its origins are lessclear. Adding the skates (or rockers) to the bottom of chairs probablyevolved from the cradle and the rocking horse. Apparently, however, nobody thought to apply the idea to furniture for adults until theeighteenth century. The Windsor Rocker, or bow-spindle-backed chair,

seems to have originated near Windsor castle in England in the early tomid 1700’s, but it was the American Windsor chair, built principally inPhiladelphia, that became known worldwide. Bid to win this historicpiece of furniture, and you’ll not regret making it part of your legacy.Generously donated by DCCF supporter Judy Milne.
