Our specialisttraining division offers industry recognized project management trainingincluding PRINCE2©, Association for Project Management (APM) andManaging Successful Programmes (MSP), providing your people withthe expertise they need to drive projects forward to completion.

We offer onsite or offsite training to individuals orentire teams including individual coaching, filmedgroup sessions, meeting observations, feedbacksessions, written examinations and coursecertificates. We tailor course content according tothe requirements of our clients and the experienceof our attendees, but typically this can includecreating project and marketing plans, managing

costs and budgets, improving operations andsupply chains and motivating, managing andteam building techniques.

Our client’s challengeOur client, a Welsh governmental organization, wasstruggling to prioritize projects. Employees weren’ttaking responsibility for activities, communicationwas poor and there was no formalized operationalprocess in place.

Our solutionTo tackle the challenges that our client faced,we devised a bespoke training plan that wasimplemented and embedded over a three yearperiod. This included the delivery of over 20workshops, a tailored project managementhandbook and an intranet campaign thatstimulated an improved flow of communicationthroughout the organization.

In addition, a series of mentoring sessions wereconducted at project manager level, developingemployees into ‘champions for change’ to ensurethat training became embedded and sustainablein the long term.

The outcomeThe training was so successful that we weresubsequently awarded a contract to provideconsultancy and training on four key businessprinciples that the organization wanted to promoteinternally.

Thanks to our project management trainingsolution, the business has implemented newplanning schedules, which have enabledemployees to prioritize tasks more effectively andin time for their annual budget. The organizationhas also restructured the workforce to ensure eachproject is assigned an overall manager responsiblefor all operational phases, which has improvedownership and communications throughout thecompany.

Our client’s challengeWhile providing project management training toone of our clients, it became apparent that theirproject controllers needed a more advancedunderstanding of different scheduling techniques,as this was causing a severe bottleneck in theproject controls function of their oil and gas project.In turn, this was also hindering their ability toinfluence key project stakeholders.

Our solutionWe implemented a training program to teach theproject controllers about the key principles of theplanning software that they use. This consisted ofan initial offsite training course, followed by a seriesof onsite follow-up sessions.

The course lasted two months and in that timewe conducted training sessions, briefings, roleplay activities and one-to-one tutoring with theindividuals, ensuring that they had both the softand hard skills to better complete their work.

The outcomeBy the end of the training program, the projectcontrollers were more confident in their abilityto challenge and question others within theorganization, as well as gaining a fullunderstanding of critical path analysis anda more in depth knowledge of the disciplinespecific software used in their various roles.

Graduate

To help address the global skills gap and meet the growing demandfor young talent within the oil and gas industry, we offer competencybased graduate training programs to our clients around the world.

Our ‘closed loop’ approach to graduate trainingensures that through classroom lectures anddemonstrations, project assignments, written andoral examinations and industry placements, yourtrainees acquire the skills they need to excelwithin their chosen field and to become the skilledoil and gas workers you require.

Our technical training and workshops can be heldonsite or offsite and include modules on rotatingand static machinery, process and instrumentation

engineering, health and safety, risk assessment,hydrocarbons and even IT training for oil and gasprofessionals. We also offer non-technicalgraduate training in areas including team building,finance, problem-solving and time management.

Our client’s challengeOur client, a Malaysian subsidiary of a globaloilfield services provider, needed support to traintheir annual intake of graduates, as they lacked therequired skills and knowledge to enable them tobecome value adding members of the business ina timely manner.

Our solutionAfter identifying a potential opportunity to accessfunding for this training, as part of a Malaysiangovernment drive to up-skill graduates in specifiedstrategic industries, we created an oil and gascompetency development program called ‘TheLeader Series’ aimed at meeting the needs of ourclient.

The Leader Series prepared the graduates forcareers in both onshore and offshore oil and gaswork and took them over three months and 380hours to complete, followed by six months oftraining on the job. The course included aprofessional certification in risk assessment fromthe Chartered Institute of Environmental Health andfour industrial visits per participant to fabricationyards and production companies.

We submitted this program to the relevantgovernment body and gained approval for accessto funding.

The outcomeOur client was able to put their graduate intakethrough this heavily tailored solution at minimalcost. As a direct result, these graduates joined thebusiness three months later, fully equipped to bringimmediate value to the business.

Such was the success of the ‘The Leader Series’that we are now running an expanded version ofthe program under government sponsorship andare taking on graduates from a range of industryclients, including the next round of graduate intakefrom the original client. We are actively alsoseeking approval from the government for furthersponsorship of a broader range of training.

Our client’s challengeOur client conducts around 8,000 candidatescreenings per year stretching across the EasternHemisphere, however their previous partnercompany was not providing an adequate service.The partner company couldn’t cope with thevolume of work and were offering a service thatwas too automated and lacked the adequate levelof personal management, meaning that theyweren’t getting enough insight into the candidate’spersonality.

Our solutionWith a global reach stretching across all thelocations that our client required and over 35 years’experience in the industry, we were perfectlypositioned to support the company with the time,skills and manpower that the job required.

The outcomeAfter a six month preparation period, ourpre-employment assessment solution went livein January 2013 with local staff positioned in thePhilippines, Poland, Dubai, Malaysia, UK andNigeria, to conduct the screenings.

Our detailed assessments included telephoneor face-to-face interviews, specific questionnaires,language competency tests and psychometricassessments where necessary. The client wasextremely impressed with our commitment andwork on the screenings and we continue to workwith the company today.
