6 Traffic Assessment

6.1 Traffic Generation

In consideration of the locality of the site and good level of accessibility to public transport, it is estimated that the residential component of the development will generate traffic at a rate of 3 vehicle movements per apartment with a parking space per day or 0.3 trips per apartment per hour during peak hours.

The majority of the traffic generated by the residential development during the morning peak period will be residents departing the subject site (80 percent out and 20 percent in) and the majority of the traffic during the evening peak period will be residents arriving to the subject site (40 percent out and 60 percent in).

The application of the above rates to the 82 apartments that will be provided with car parking generates an expected level of traffic generation as per Table 6.1 below:

Table 6.1: Residential Traffic Generation

AM Peak PM Peak

Arriving trips: 5 15

Departing trips: 20 10

Total trips: 25 25

6.2 Traffic Distribution

The level of additional traffic generated by the proposed development will flow directly onto Hodgson Street. Based on site observations, the surrounding road network has the ability to accommodate the expected increase in traffic volume (in the order of 25 vehicle movements in AM and PM peak hours) associated with the proposed development. Further, Given that all vehicles will able to exit the site in a forward direction onto Hodgson Street, it is expected that the development will not create any traffic safety or operational concerns.

7 Conclusion Based on the analysis and discussions presented within this report, the following conclusions are made.

■ The proposed development generates a statutory requirement of 118 parking spaces.

■ The provision of 83 spaces for residents requires a reduction of 16 spaces against the statutory requirements. 16 apartments will be sold without a parking space on-site which represents 18% of the one bedroom apartments proposed and is much less than the 42% of one-bedroom apartments in the area that do not own a vehicle. Parking is heavily restricted on the surrounding streets, which will assist in ensuring that those that purchase an apartment without a parking space do not park on-street instead.

■ No parking is provided on-site for visitors. Visitors are expected to generate a demand of 7 spaces during weekdays and up to 12 spaces during weeknights and on weekends when their demands are at their peak. Parking surveys indicate that there is sufficient capacity within the surrounding on-street supply to cater for this demand and is considered an appropriate arrangement in this location.

■ The use of car stackers is considered to be acceptable and has been independently assessed by Klaus Multiparking.

■ The provision of bicycle parking satisfies the Planning Scheme requirements for residents. The Applicant also proposes to provide funding to Council towards the installation of bicycle parking rails to be installed on the footpath in the vicinity of the site, which will cater for the bicycle parking needs of customers and visitors to the site.

■ The subject site has excellent access to a range of facilities and services that will reduce individuals' dependence on private motor vehicle ownership and travel.

■ Up to 25 vehicular trips per hour will be generated along Hodgson Street during AM and PM peak periods by the proposed development. Traffic will be dispersed onto the surrounding road network, which has the capacity to accommodate the additional traffic volumes in a safe and satisfactory manner.

■ Waste and recyclables collections are to be performed by a private contractor as specified in the Waste Management Plan prepared by Leigh Design.

Overall, the proposed development is not expected to create adverse traffic or parking impacts in the precinct.

• Standard type • Special system: maximum load for extra charge. • To follow the minimum finished dimensions, make sure

to consider the tolerances according to VOB, part C (DIN 18330 and 18331) and the DIN 18202.

• Car width for platform width 230 cm. If wider platforms are used it is also possible to park wider cars.

• If height H is larger, vehicles with the maximum height as applicable for the GF can be parked on the UF, otherwise there will be free space available on the ceiling.

• Potential equalization from foundation grounding connection to system (provided by the customer).

• Tolerances for the evenness of the carriageway (floor) must be strictly complied with in accordance with DIN (=German Industrial Standard) No. 18202, chart 3, line 3.

• On the standard version without door, a 10 cm wide yellow-black markings compliant to ISO 3864must be applied by the customer to the edge of the platform in the access area to mark the danger zone in compliance with DIN EN 14 010 (see Width Dimensions on page 2).

• For convenient use of your parking space and due to the fact that the cars keep becoming longer we recommend a pit length of 580 cm.

If sprinklers are required make sure to provide the necessary free spaces during the planning stage.

For parking boxes on the edges and boxes with intermediate walls we recommend our maximum platform width of 270 cm. Please consider adjoining grids. Problems may occur if smaller platform widths are used (depending on car type, access and individual driving behaviour and capability).

For larger limousines and SUV wider driveways are necessary (in particular on the boxes on the sides due to the missing manoeuvring radius).

H1 = Heigth of the vehicle on ground floor platform.

RB = Grid unit width must strictly conform to dimensions quoted!

12 Marking compliant to ISO 3864 (colors used in this illustration are not ISO 3864 compliant) 13 Only applies to manually operated doors. The electrically driven doors must have 35 cm.
