6TH GRADE COURSE SELECTION

For the 2013-2014 School Year

6th Grade Key Points:

●You will have eight class periods each day.

● Everyone will take a Study Skills period

● Everyone will take P.E. ● Everyone will get to choose

one elective in addition to P.E.

Course SelectionsYou will choose one from each of the

following sets of courses:● Language Arts OR Pre-AP Language Arts● Mathematics OR Pre-AP Mathematics● Reading OR Pre-AP Reading● Social Studies● Science ● Physical Education (P.E.)

* may request Pre-AP and your teachers will confirm request

Elective Choices: Everyone will choose ONE of the following electives to participate in

the entire year:

● Choir (1 full year)● Band (1 full year)

● Theater & Art (1 semester each)

GUIDELINES FOR PRE-AP COURSES FOR 2013-2014:Pre-AP students should be:

- Energetic - Involved - Self-motivated - Passionate about learning- Committed for the year- Prepared to do ½ to 1 hour of

homework per class nightly

- You and your parents will look at the North Richland course selection worksheet and decide which classes to take.

- Then you will log into Skyward to register for 6th grade.
