NELSONMANDELA DIES AT 95

HONOURED BY DR MYLES MUNROE1918 - 2013

NELSON MANDELA was considered one of the last remaining true leaders of our generation and the 21st Century. Today the world has lost a great and True Leader. His dedication and sacrifice for the betterment of others in South Africa and citizens of the world was a standard for all aspiring leaders to emulate. I have had the privilege of meeting this Icon of great leadership and was deeply humbled by his spirit of humility, service and empathy for the weak and disadvantaged. As we come to grips with the passing of this great man of Character as the curtain closes on his earthly journey, we pray that his departure was painless.

As President Mandela leaves us a legacy of humility, compassion, forgiveness and reconciliation, we must accept the reality and inevitability of his mortality as a human.

president nelson Mandela served his generation with excellence and purity in motive and will be hon-oured by history. He fulfilled the definition of

PRESIDENT MANDELA HONOURED FOR HIS SPIRIT OF FORGIvENESS AND PEACE.

Nelson Mandela has exemplified this divine definition and we honour his legacy. As Chairman of the Interna-tional Third World Leaders Association (ITWLA), I and the entire global Family of Leaders, Bahamas Faith

Presi-dent Nelson Mandela to all of us. May God bless his legacy!

DR MYLES MUNROE IN MANDELA’S PRISON CELLIt was a cold damp morn-ing as we boarded the boat on the dock at Cape Town South Africa to start our trip to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela spent over 27 years of imprisonment. I did not know how to feel – there was a sense of fear, anticipation, anxiety, excitement, sadness, pride and deep respect as the boat moved away from the shore and headed to an Island we could see in the dis-tance. After about 30 minutes of travel we arrived with the announcement, “Welcome to Robben Island”. We were greeted by a middle-aged man with a massive smile…”Welcome to Robben Island Dr and Mrs Munroe… we were expecting you…follow me”.

As my wife Ruth and I entered the prison compound, the sun emerged from the clouds and its heat struck the jagged rocks all around us. The tour began with an introduction to the story of apartheid and the struggle for freedom. Then we entered the cell block and the cell where Nelson Mandela spent 27 years. The cell was so small, visitors could only enter one

at a time. The length of the cell was smaller than its height and was simply four walls of cold concrete with one barred window. Tears began to sting my eyes and I fell to the cold concrete slab floor. As I lay there, I could feel the spirit of Mandela and the weight of the history and torture of a human soul

that was kept locked up, because of a simple con-viction – all men should be equal and free. I wanted to stay there all day just to taste a little of the pain and cost of freedom. I cried for a whole hour in that place and personally rededicated myself to fighting

oppression and hate everywhere.

THANK YOU MADIBA FOR YOUR PERSONAL SACRIFICE FOR A PUBLIC CAUSE.

WORDS THAT DESCRIBE PRESIDENT NELSON MANDELA (MADIBA)

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of right-eousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 ”Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, be-cause great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

MATTHEW 5:9-12 [NIV]
