For Immediate Release: June 30, 2015 Media Release: Frankel scolds B rooks’ Cronyism, calls on Dinolfo to Comment ROCHESTER, NY -- Democratic Candidate for Monroe County Executive Sandy Frankel made the following statement regarding the current administration's’ mishandling of the situation surrounding County Communication Director Justin Feasel. Sandy will be available for follow-up comments throughout the day. "Last week, I joined fellow concerned residents in calling for the Monroe County Director of Communications Justin Feasel to be fired after allowing his wife to operate his county-owned vehicle while intoxicated. His abuse of power extended to a phone call at the scene asking the Monroe County Sheriff to intervene, which the Sheriff refused to do. Shortly after, Feasel's boss, current Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks, came to his defense crying "bad politics", noting that this was a "sensitive personnel matter". Where Maggie misses the mark is the fact that the treatment of this personnel matter contradicts the outcome in the DWI arrest and later conviction of Director of Aviation Susan Walsh was several years ago. At that time, Brooks condemned drinking and driving in a county vehicle, saying "there is no wiggle room in the policy about drinking and driving, especially when you're driving a county vehicle." Following this incident, Walsh resigned her position as Director of Aviation. Now, Brooks is making excuses for her six-figure county salary crony, giving him what amounts to a slap on the wrist for endangering the lives of others through the misuse of his county vehicle. Unfortunately, this is just the lates t incident in over a decade of cronyism and corruption in county government , which I have pledged to end.
