My prayer is that this will be a blessing to you as you seek to lead your students to be more like Christ. On that note, I am excited that we have begun our year long walk through the book of Romans on Wednesday nights. This year is going to be unique! We will continue to do the famil- iar crazy games, have passionate worship music and a time of teaching through the passage. There will be a 5th Quarter each week that any of our three Howard County teams have a home game. A full calendar and schedule cardwill be available soon. The first 5th Quarter is September 4th and we will be hosting that here at First Baptist. That Friday night both Big Spring and Forsan have a home game. Look for more details on Jonathans social media accounts. Sunday nights this fall will be at the Raffini’s home again this year. We will meet from 6-7 pm for a meal, fellowship, play and a short time of Bible study. If you need a ride, the bus will leave the church at 5:50 pm and be back to the church by 7:05 pm. Our first Sunday night gathering is Sunday, September 13th. Wednesday, September 23rd is See You/Saw You at the Pole. Meet at your school flagpole that morning at the designated time (usually 7 am) to pray over your school, fellow students, teachers, and nation. Then join with tons of other students from the area that night for a huge area wide “Saw You at the Pole” rally at Circle 6 Ranch in Stanton. We will take the bus and will leave promptly at 6:16 pm. I know it is a tight schedule, but the pizza ends at 7 pm! After that we will have a time of worship led by “Thirty-Nine Thoughts” and Mike Satterfield (a tremendously gifted speaker) will bring the message. The cost is $5 for pizza and the event, but FBC is going to supplement that cost, so you just need to bring $2 that night. Be on the lookout in the mail this week for Youth Camp info for Summer 2016. Dates and cost are being finalized. The letter will include information on how to earn scholarships. That usually involves serving in various ways and some combination of church attendance which begins Sunday, September 13th. Also, we are excited to announce DNOW 2016!!!! There are many new things coming this year, so I can promise you it will not be boring, nor will it be the same as in the past, but it will be awesome. The dates are January 29-31, 2016. Lots of details are still to be determined. We do know that we will be hosting this event and FBC Stanton and Midway Baptist will be co-sponsoring it with us. We will have many students for that always exciting weekend. ACTS 1:8 ANNOUNCEMENTS

FROM THE PASTOR

For the past seven months, the Children’s Minister Search Committee has actively pursued the person whom the Father has chosen to serve as our Minister to Children. I am grateful for the diligent praying and working of the men and women who serve on that committee. With great excitement, the search committee will introduce Justin

Green to the church on Sunday, September 13, in view of a call to be our Minister to Children. Justin and his wife, Megan, live in Summerfield, Florida, with their 12 month old daughter, Macy. Currently the Children’s Ministry Director at the First Baptist Church of Belleview, Florida, Justin has established a significant ministry to children and families. He is committed to the discipleship of children and to leading children to a faith walk with Christ. Justin is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Family, Youth, and Community Science, and a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian Education. Megan, also a graduate of the University of Florida, is actively involved alongside Justin in the Children’s Ministry of the church. Together, the Greens form a unique team of service to the Lord through the church. Please take the opportunity to meet Justin, Megan, and Macy on Sunday, Septem-ber 13. A vote to call Justin will take place at the end of the morning worship service. Thank you for praying for our search committee. I am excited about the Greens and our relationship together! September means we are gearing up for our fifth season of Upward Basketball! Registration is currently underway. Each of the past basketball seasons has seen an increase in players and attendance. Should the trend continue, we will have over 300 children playing Upward this year! I need you to join me as an Upward Prayer Partner! As a UPP, I ask you to pray for children and adults to come to faith in Christ through this ministry. At each practice and at the halftime of every game, the gospel is presented. So, hundreds of players, coaches, referees, and families will be confronted with the gospel! Let us pray for the seed before it is planted! You are a gift of joy to me from the heavenly Father. The prayer of Paul for the Philippian Christians in Philippians 1:3-6 is my prayer for you. I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the

knowledge of him everywhere. 2 Corinthians 2:14

College Ministry. This year we will welcome new basketball players. This year players will arrive from France, Turkey, Serbia, Poland and states from as far west as Oregon and to Connecticut in the east. Begin praying for these students as well as other Howard students, that we will have an opportunity to impact their lives.

School Supplies. Because of your gifts of money and supplies, over 200 children, youth, and college students have the necessary school supplies with which to begin the new school year. Not only have they received supplies, but every person who came through the mission center was not only prayed with, but heard the Gospel.

Operation Christmas Child. Soon you will see the written stories of young adults we met in Kosovo who received boxes from Operation Christmas Child after the Kosovo/Serbian war and hear firsthand how these gifts continue to impact lives. Don’t forget to store up on the school supplies now for your boxes while they are on sale. Collection will take place the first part of November. Our church goal is 500 boxes.

Texas Missions-Mary Hill Davis Offering. The purpose of this offering, traditionally taken in September, is used to impact the lostness in Texas. Half of the people living in Texas need to hear the message of Christ. With incredible growth happening in our state, more needs to be done to reach those moving here with the message of Jesus. Will you give so others may hear? Our church goal is $7,000.

Church Planting Partners. Josh and Becky Wyatt and our friends from Charles River Church in Boston, are working overtime this summer to reach their community for Christ. The membership operates a Kids’ Camp, staffs a weekly Farmer’s Market, and hosts neighborhood movie nights as ways of connecting with their community. Pray for new connections in their community and for the staff and membership to have the physical stamina needed to carry on these ministries.

Simon and Christa Hoopes are in the middle of remodeling and rebranding Sweet Beans Bakery. In recent months the bakery has lost income. Pray that the rebranding and remodeling of the bakery will attract a crowd of clients that they have not been able to reach. As well, pray that the Lord provides the needed funds to complete the remodel. Also, the jalapeño project is in full swing as the Hoopes juggle the jalapeño import/export business. The jalapeno project is in dire need of short term funds in order to pay the farmers and purchases canning items for the jalapenos. Pray that God will supply this specific need and give the Hoopes the physical strength they need.

Through the ministry of Jim and Debbie Walterhouse and their leadership through Blessed Hands Deaf Church, more deaf are being reached with the Gospel. Pray for incoming SWCID students as they arrive. Also, pray for Dale Kesterson, who will be working alongside Jim Walterhouse.
