A suspension training system widely used in the fitness world to provide total body workouts. It has been adapted for use in a burn population to help manage contractures, improve range of motion, strength and overall fitness. This workshop will introduce you to the use of a suspension training system in the burn population and review specific exercise prescription options when treating burn clients

2. Self-Adherent Bandages for the Burn Population

The use of self-adherent bandages with the burn population within a rehabilitation setting. The applica-tion of self-adherent bandages will be discussed including a general overview and an opportunity for practice within a small group will be provided.

Psychosocial Approaches to Managing Mental Health Conditions in Burn Care

Mental illness can impact the recovery from medical illness. Nowhere is this seen more prominently than in the care of burn patients, where recovery can be significantly impacted by mental illness. In caring for burn patients with mental health problems it is important to take a biopsychosocial approach to care. During this workshop we will explore a collaborative approach for caring for burn patients with mental health co-morbidi-ties by using both didactic components as well as interactive case-based discussion.
