Within each level, the food items are arranged in different food categories for your convenience or alphabetical order for the environmental items. The level indicates the type of response your pet’s body may experience with ingestion or exposure. Remember that we are testing for intolerances (NON IgE mediated responses), which are reactions that can take up to 48 hours or longer to appear. With our method of intolerance testing, your pet does not have to ingest or be exposed to the item for it to register as an imbalance. Food intolerances can occur for a number of reasons. The most common is the body is lacking the digestive enzymes to break down the food so it can properly digest. The other reason the intolerance can occur is due to over-consumption. Making adjustments to your pet’s food consumption through the elimination guideline provided may help their body resolve or rebalance these intolerances. Please remember that intolerances can be temporary and will change over time unlike allergies that are typically lifelong. Level 3 (Stop) Level 3 intolerances are considered items that your pet’s body registered an imbalance to and may be likely to cause very noticeable symptoms. Reactions may show up as inflammation, digestive issues, skin problems, fatigue, etc. Level 3 items should be eliminated from the diet or avoid exposure to the item as much as possible. These imbalances are affecting your pet’s overall vitality. Continuous consumption of these food items or exposure to these environmental items will contribute to your pet’s decline in vitality. Your main focus should be on level 3 items first. Level 2 (Slow down) Level 2 intolerances are items that your pet’s body has registered an imbalance to with symptoms that may result in reactions such as itchy skin, runny nose, watery eyes, etc. Level 2 items should be avoided or reduced as much as possible if you can not eliminate them at the same time you eliminate level 3 items. Level 1 (Be aware) Level 1 intolerances are items that your pet’s body has registered a low level imbalance. While there may be no noticeable symptoms, they may potentially cause issues with ingestion or exposure over time. Consumption of these food items should be in very limited amounts. Please note that every pet is different and symptoms may vary by level and severity .Disclaimer: 5Strands® Affordable Testing does not make medical diagnosis nor is it intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always seek the advice of your veterinarian or other qualified health providers regarding medical conditions, symptoms or questions. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of something you have read in 5Strands® Affordable Testing materials. If you think you may have an emergency, call your veterinarian or seek emergency services immediately. Our method of testing does not test for type IgE allergies. Since these reactions can be serious, you should seek the help of an allergy specialist.

5Strands® Affordable Testing How to Interpret Test Results

Food and Environmental Intolerances

Food and Environmental Intolerances are arranged by Level 3, 2 and 1 and are color-coded like a stoplight.

Level 3 (Stop)

Level 3 intolerances are considered items that your pet’s body registered an imbalance to and may

be likely to cause very noticeable symptoms. Reactions may show up as inflammation, digestive issues, skin

problems, fatigue, etc. Level 3 items should be eliminated from the diet or avoid exposure to the item as

much as possible. These imbalances are affecting your pet’s overall vitality. Continuous consumption of

these food items or exposure to these environmental items will contribute to your pet’s decline in vitality.

Your main focus should be on level 3 items first.

Level 2 (Slow down)

Level 2 intolerances are items that your pet’s body has registered an imbalance to with symptoms

that may result in reactions such as itchy skin, runny nose, watery eyes, etc. Level 2 items should be

avoided or reduced as much as possible if you can not eliminate them at the same time you eliminate level

3 items.

Level 1 (Be aware)

Level 1 intolerances are items that your pet’s body has registered a low level imbalance. While

there may be no noticeable symptoms, they may potentially cause issues with ingestion or exposure over

time. Consumption of these food items should be in very limited amounts.

Please note that every pet is different and symptoms may vary by level and severity

Nutrition Test - This test will indicate your pet’s inability to absorb and process the particular

nutrients tested. This test will not provide a physical measurement of the amount of these

items within their body.

The results will not show all of the items tested. The lab only provides a report for the items that registered within the threshold (-50 through -100). If an item does not show on your report (-49 through 0) this is considered to be in balance. This reporting scale is unique to 5Strands method of testing and should not be compared to other methods.

Items that registered from -50 through -65 are classified as MILD (green color).

Items that registered from -66 through -85 are classified as MODERATE (yellow color).

Items that registered from -86 through -100 are classified as SEVERE (red color).

Feeding your pet a healthy diet is the best way for them to receive the proper nutrients their body requires. Please keep in mind that their body may require more of a nutrient because of lifestyle factors (i.e. stress, excessive exercise, food intolerances, etc.). While there are minerals included in the test that are important to stay healthy, excessive exposure of any item can cause harmful symptoms.

Please remember to always consult your veterinarian before doing any health treatment including supplements and natural remedies. The information here is for educational purposes only and is in no way intended for medical counseling.

Metals/Minerals Test - This test will provide a severity of response report of your pet’s

ability to process and eliminate each item tested. This test will not provide a physical measurement for the amount of these items within their body (this is not HTMA or blood testing).

The results will not show all of the items tested. The lab only provides a report for the items that registered over the threshold (50 through 100). If an item does not show on your report ( 0 through 49) this is considered to be in balance This reporting scale is unique to 5Strands method of testing and should not be compared to other methods.

Items that registered from 50 through 65 are classified as MILD (green color).

Items that registered from 66 through 85 are classified as MODERATE (yellow color).

Items that registered from 86 through 100 are classified as SEVERE (red color).

It is impossible for our pet’s to avoid being exposed to metals and minerals since they are in the air they breathe, the food they eat, the household products we use, and our soil and water. Their body was designed to eliminate toxins through the kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymphatic system, and skin. When these systems are compromised, these toxins are not properly filtered and their body could be adversely affected. You can help their body's natural cleansing process by having them drink plenty of filtered water, consuming the proper nutrition plan which should include green leafy vegetables, trying to eliminate stress, exercise, and plenty of rest. This should be an ongoing practice to help cleanse and nourish their body from the inside out.
