• Is is a bast fiber, which means the fiber is collected from
the “inner bark” which is the phloem.
• The leaves of a Ramie Plant are heart shaped.

(Boehmeria nivea).
*The inner bark, or phloem is harvested for
the fiber.

ancient Egypt. Today it is grown in China and
