I am an experienced, OHS vetted, recompetition grant reviewer with a 12-year history of supporting Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

I’ve been paid by both OHS and DRS Grantees to review their recompetition grants. I can help you strengthen your grant before you submit it, thus helping you to maximize your points.

I’ve worked as a Deputy Director in an Early Head Start program, provided Program Design and Management Training & Technical Assistance, and consulted with HS/EHS programs, so I know the regulations and can help you achieve your vision.

Take Action to Get Recompetition-Ready!

Evaluation Criteria

•Demonstrates that the applicant will contribute the required non-federal share/match of the total project cost using allowable sources.

•The application identifies each source of non-federal share match, including the estimated amount per source and the valuation methodology.

Tips to Consider

•Cash and non-cash sources are allowable

•Each contribution must be an allowable cost of the grant

•Valuations for non-cash items should be described

•Valuations must be reasonable

Tips to Consider

•Best practice is to support in-kind with local comparisons of how you arrived at the value (e.g. compensation statistics, catalog describing new item costs, etc.)

•Read the regulations since in-kind and non-federal share have changed over the years

•Documentation should be kept, which includes signature, date of service, and type of service provided if using volunteers (e.g. playground clean up, dental check ups, etc.)

Tips to Consider

•You must meet the amount you establish in your grant, so meet the minimum required and then be careful how much you state after that since you will be held accountable for it
