•where a person or thing is from: My parents are from Mexico. →•telling time: It is seven in the morning. →
Use for descriptions that are not about conditions or locationsUse for talking about time

ESTAR is to be (am, is, are)
Use to talk about situations that tend to changeUse for location of people or things
For example:•how a person feels: I am sick and he is tired. →

•where a person or thing is at: Where are the books? They are in the backpack. →
