THE GRAMMY FOUNDATION®

A Look at MusiCares® and GRAMMY® in the Schools

The GRAMMY Foundation was established in 1988 to cultivate the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the contribution of recorded music to American culture — from the artistic and technical legends of the past to the still unimagined musical breakthroughs of future generations of music professionals. The Foundation accomplishes this mission through programs and activities that engage the music industry and cultural community as well as the general public. Some of the programs that the Foundation operates include:

• MusiCares® provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need, and resources cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies

• GRAMMY Week Celebration: the MusiCares Person of the Year Award and Concert and tribute ceremony is one of the most prestigious events held during GRAMMY Week with royalty of music in attendance. Some of the past honorees include Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and Carol King to name a few

• GRAMMY in the Schools® influences the lives of young people by opening the windows of opportunity that music can provide for their futures with programs like GRAMMY Camps, GRAMMY U and the Music Educator of the Year Award
