ДУШПАСТИРСЬКІ ВІДВІДИНИ З ЙОРДАНСЬКОЮ

ВОДОЮ

Ця практика відвідин має початок від Ісуса Христа. У

Святому Письмі читаємо, що сам Господь відвідував

доми. Христос перебував в домі Лазаря, відвідав дім

митаря Закхея, який обіцяв направити всі

заподіяні кривди. Був у хаті фарисея Симона, і навіть

докоряв йому за те, що не прийняв Його належно, а явна

грішниця Марія Магдалина виявила більший знак

покори. Якщо так робив Христос, то й Церква вказує

священикам відвідувати доми своїх парафіян.

Хто вас приймає, Мене приймає (Мт 10,40) — сказав Ісус

до Апостолів. Наказав також: «Коли до якого дому

ввійдете, спочатку кажіть: Мир дому цьому! Якщо там

живе людина гідна миру, ваш мир залишиться на

ньому» (Лука 10,5-6). Прихід священика з

душпастирськими відвідинами є актом публічного

визнання віри і знаком єдності та живого зв'язку

домашньої Церкви з Церквою парафіяльною та

вселенською.

будівлі. На відміну від поганських храмів, де не було місця для людей, християнські

храми будували як місце зібрання спільноти: спільнота, яка є «храмом Бога живого»,

освячує будівлю, а не будівля спільноту.

583 Українська назва «храм» походить від слова «хороми», що вказує на велич і красу «дому Божого».

Християнський храм називаємо також «церквою», від грецького киріаке, що означає «Господня»,

присвячена Богові будівля. Назва храму «собор» вказує на зібрання церковної спільноти на чолі з

ВНУТРІШНЄ ОЗДОБЛЕННЯ СОБОРУ СВЯТОГО ЙОСАФАТА ПРОЕКТ II

37 років тому в березні 1981 року, за сприяння блаженної пам'яті монс. Михайла

Федоровича, на парафії Св. Йосафата був створений будівельний комітет. Ціль створення

комітету полягала в тому, щоб побудувати парафіяльний храм так, як для богослужінь

протягом 33 років вживалося каплицю школи Св. Йосафата, яка знаходилась в головному

будинку і була знана, як каплиця Митрополита Андрея Шептицького.

24 червня 1982 р. відбулось закладення і посвячення першого камення під будівництво

нового храму. Господні дороги не наші дороги. 17 грудня 1983 року, Папа Римський Святий

Іван Павло II проголошує новостворенну Єпархію Св. Йосафата з осідком у Пармі, яка має

протягнутись від Клівленду до Флоріди. Новозбудований храм тепер стає осідком

Єпархіального Єпископа, а сам храм отримує статус Катедри.

24 червня 1985 роки відбулось урочисте перенесення Найсвятіших Тайн з каплиці школи до

собору Св. Йосафата в Пармі. З тих пір ми, як парафія продовжуємо любити, захоплюватись і

підтримувати нашу духовну святиню. В соборі завершили встановлення мармуру та бронзи на

іконостасі, розписали мозаїки та ікони, як всередині, так і зовні храму, на вікнах встановили

вітражі.

Кожен, хто проходить чи проїзжає повз Собор захоплюється його величчю, красою і

звичайно позолоченими куполами. Все це пригадує нам про безмежну Божу красу і

присутність Бога серед нас, а також нагадує про цілі покоління, які жертвенно будували і

прикрашали Собор Св. Йосафата.

Сьогодні маємо честь оголосити вам, що під орудою Владики Богдана і отця Богдана, а

також дорадчого парафіяльного комітету, ми почали роботу, щоб завершити оздоблення

інтер'єру собору іконами в арках, куполах і стелі. Як можете бачити, верхня частина інтерєру

собору ніколи не була мальована, а тільки оброблена грунтовою фарбою. Ми співпрацюєм з

архітектором, який нещодавно допомогав нам розробляти дизайн для відновлення куполів

ззовні, щоб допоміг з планом для внутрішнього оформлення собору. З проєктом кожен

бажаючий може ознайомитись в вестибюлі собору.

Наступним етапом в цьому проєкті буде розсіслання заявок до потенційних художників і

іконописців для участі в розпису нашого храму. Ми очікуємо, що до 2018 року, коли парафія

святкуватиме 30 – ти літній ювілей освячення собору, проект буде завершений.

Як і в минулому, так і тепер, сподіваємось на ваше розуміння і підтримку, в першу чергу

молитвну, щоб Господь допоміг нам у здійсненні цих планів по завершенні Божого Дому –

Собору Святого Йосафата.

По-друге: фінансово, через наші особисті пожертви, а також за рахунок рибних обідів,

продажу вареників, проектів від чоловічого клубу, апостольства молитви і так далі. Щоб ми з

Божою допомогою і вашою могли завершити те, що було розпочато майже 37 років тому на

славу Божу.

ST. JOSAPHAT CATHEDRAL RENOVATION - PHASE II

In March of 1981, 37 years ago this March, at the urging of Msgr. Michael Fedorowich of

blessed memory, the Church building committee of St. Josaphat was established. Its purpose was to

build a suitable house of worship for the Parish of St. Josaphat which had for over 33 years

worshipped in what was the Chapel of the School building now known as Sheptytsky Hall.

On June 24th 1982 the Parish of St. Josaphat blessed the ground for its new Church. Then on

December 17th 1983, God had a slightly different plan for the parish of St. Josaphat when it was

named by Pope John Paul the II of blessed memory to be the seat of the newly created Eparchy of St.

Josaphat in Parma, Ohio. Our parish church was now to become the Cathedral for the Eparchy.

On June 24th 1985 we joyously as a parish transferred the Holy Eucharist from the School

Chapel to the new Cathedral of St. Josaphat in Parma. Since then we as a parish have continued the

love and support of our spiritual home and have completed the installation of a marble and bronze

iconostas, the installation of mosaics and icons both inside and outside the Cathedral, and stained

glass windows. And, we have seen the domes our beloved Cathedral redone not once but twice.

Who has not driven by our Cathedral an admired our domes as they glisten in the sunlight and

call us to remember the Glory of God which shines in our midst. Who has not walked into our

Cathedral and felt the presence of God, leaving the drab world around us and entering into the

presence of the Divine. Yes, all of us here and many more of us who have been called to their

Heavenly reward have had a part, a share, in contributing to the establishment of this beautiful house

of worship we call St. Josaphat’s Cathedral.

Today, I have the pleasure of announcing to you, that under the Guidance of Bishop Bohdan

and Fr. Barytskyy and the Parish Advisory Council we have begun the work to complete the interior

of the Cathedral in frescoes or painted icons, in the apse, domes, dome walls, and ceilings. As many of

you know, these surfaces never even received a coat of paint and are basically primed plaster. We

have been working with an architect, the same architect who helped us design the plans for the domes,

The next step in the project will be to send out bids to various artists to finalize costs, select an

artist and complete the interior. It is our hope that by 2018, the 30th Anniversary of the dedication of

the Cathedral of St. Josaphat that we will have the project complete.

Temple - A place of Communal Prayer 582 At first, Christians gathered for prayer and the breaking of bread in their homes, and in times of persecution it was in places where martyrs had been buried. Eventually, church buildings were erected

over these burial sites. Unlike pagan temples, where there was no place for the people, Christian churches

were built as places of gathering for the community. In fact, it is the community—the temple of the Living

God—that sanctifies the building, not the building that sanctifies the community.

house) is that it derives from the word for palace (khoromy). This points to the grandeur and beauty of the “house of God.”

The Christian house of worship is also called church, from the Greek kyriake, which means of the Lord, that is, a building

dedicated to God. The Ukrainian name sobor (unified or conciliar gathering) indicates a special place for the assembling

of a Church community, headed by a bishop.
