Over the last week I have had the pleasure of attending the Principal Induction Conference in Sydney. This conference provided engaging, relevant and significant professional learning by the Department of Education School Leadership Institute. This included leading high quality teaching and learning across the school, enhancing student wellbeing strategies and ensuring that in our school community every child is known, valued and cared for. Conferences of this nature enable me to focus on quality teaching and the leadership practices that have the greatest impact on teacher learning and therefore the outcomes of our students. Regards, Larissa Polak

What has been happening in Preschool?

What has been happening in Preschool? Echidnas have had an adventurous week as we discovered a treasure map. We couldn’t contain our excitement when it led us to a chest of buried treasure. Our cubby became a ‘pirate ship’ and we sailed the seas and walked the plank. We also enjoyed our new tadpoles and can’t wait to watch them grow. We are learning how to care for animals and developing a respect for the environment they live in. The Goanna group have been extending their interests with small world play. We were so excited to notice a fairy small world as we arrived at preschool. We negotiated who could play with each unicorn and fairy amongst ourselves and moved around the room in small social groups, each with their own play scenario. Building on our interests extends our vocabulary and social skills. Preschool Photos Echidnas will have their individual photos taken on Tuesday, 3rd March and their class photo on Monday, 23rd March. Preschool Goannas photos will be taken on Thursday, 5th March. Preschool Committee Meeting Thank you to the parents who attended our Committee Meeting. At the meeting we reviewed the Preschool Philosophy, discussed our Localised Procedures about program display and accessibility and shared ideas on how to improve our outdoor environment. In response, we would like to include our parent/family voices on our philosophy so we invite our current families to share what they love about preschool. This can be done on our preschool news board or through class dojo. As the year progresses we will be seeking support for some of our planned projects so stay tuned to find out how you can help and be a part of our community. Preschool Collection We understand that due to circumstances there may be times when you are unable to collect your child from preschool. In this event it is a regulation requirement that you contact us at preschool to let us know the change of plans. You can do this either by class dojo or phone us. When your nominated person arrives, we will ask to see photo ID if they are unknown to us. Under no circumstances will children be released to their care without photo ID so please remind your nominated person to bring it with them. We understand that this can sometimes be inconvenient but your child’s safety is our number one priority. We appreciate your support in this matter. The Preschool Team This information supports:

Charlie and his dog Louis are a musical team. Charlie plays the trumpet and Louis sings his ooh-ooh song. But when Charlie falls ill, Louis is left on his own. Louis no longer sings. He no longer wags his tail.

Until, one day, Louis hears the familiar notes from a trumpet... Maree Denning, Librarian
