5.6.0 RELEASE NOTES
9/29/2014
SmartLinx is pleased to announce the availability of SmartLinx Version 5.6.0
update on Thursday, October 7, 2014. This is a suite-wide update with new
product offerings, enhancements, and bug fixes for to include ACA Director,
Accruals, Business Analytics, Directory, ESS, HRMS, Attest, Payroll, SO, and
TA. The changes included in this release are covered under the Release
Notes attached to this notice. There is no scheduled downtime with this
release.

For users using Internet Explorer 10.0.0 and earlier that are having issues
experiencing the new enhancements please follow the instructions located here.
Release Notes
Release 5.6.0 will contain external and internal enhancements, as Payroll 5.0 will only
release externally with Release. 5.7.0.
New Products added to WorkLinx Suite
ACA Director
Affordable Care Act legislation changes from the government inspired product
offering.
WorkLinx Mobile
Industry leading mobile ESS features and functionally available as client add-on.
Major Enhancements Added
Corporate Dashboards
See business critical data at the highest level while being able to navigate down to
the unit level all from one central point.
Updated Branding
Updates to the branding within Version 5 and ESS to better align with corporate
branding.
Retroactive Pay Adjustments
Payroll clients will be able to make adjustments to past pay periods.

Rebranding
OT# 1405, 1377, 1433- Updated colors, icons, and various screens to better align

meaning/action behind the icons has not changed. If you hover over them, the tooltip

ACA Director
Easy, at-a-glance Affordable Care Act compliance and monitoring. Track compliance
on a daily basis with an easy to understand Dashboard and tracking based on
customizable rules.
OT# 1423 – Added link on home screen to access the ACA Director application
for users that purchased the product. The overall product lets you configure,
setup, monitor, and report on ACA related data. (Figure 4)

OT# 1319 – Added a new ACA Director dashboard that has key ACA statistics
all in one place. (Figure 5) [ACA Director>Dashboard] Analytics included:
o Part time employees working over 30/130 limit (Callout 1 in Figure 5)
o % of ACA full time employees covered by healthcare plans (Callout 2 in
Figure 5)
o A new feature to track the distribution of hourly vs. salaried employees.
(Callout 3 in Figure 5)
o Display how many potential penalties the employer could owe (Callout
4 in Figure 5)
o Display how many employees might be eligible for tax credits. (Callout
5 in Figure 5)
o Display a count of how many employees don’t find the benefits
affordable, which means the plan cost was above 9.5% of household
income for the employee. (Callout 6 in Figure 5).
o Display how many employees are correctly being evaluated and will
become eligible for benefits within a specified unit of time. (Callout 7 in
Figure 5)

OT# 1325 – Added a new field for ACA Employee Type which displays values
for Part-Time PT or Full-Time FT. This field calculates hours of service for all
employees as classified by the employer. [ACA>View>ACA Detail Breakdown]
OT# 1327 – Added a feature to track employees that decline benefit coverage.
[HRMS>Employee>ACA Additional Tab]
OT# 1326 – Added a feature to keep track of affordability of the health plan
itself by measuring whether the employee portion of the plan cost is 60% or
above. [HRMS>Benefits]

monitor critical data and easily access the organization down to the building

OT# 1376 – Added an alert feature to monitor employee lunch punch out with
configurable thresholds. (Figure 10) [HRMS>Alerts and Reminders]

OT# 1360 – Added pay exception for Retroactive Pay Adjustments. [TA>Time
Card>Date>Add Exception]
OT# 1376 – Added an alert feature to monitor employee lunch punch outs.
The alert displays the name of the employee, when they punched in and how
much time has elapsed since they punched in. The alert is client configurable
and both system (alerts and reminders) and email based. The amount of time
that has lapsed since the employee punched in and didn’t punch out for lunch
is configurable. [HRMS>Alerts and Reminders>Add Reminder Definition]

OT# 967 – Added the ability to track Part-Time PT employees that are
approaching 30 hours of service per week for the Affordable Care Act. [SO >
Master Schedule>Replace Shift]
OT# 1325 - Added new fields to help identify and track ACA data at employee
level. [SO>Employee View>Employee Information Screen]
WorkLinx Mobile
OT# 647 – WorkLinx Mobile is now available for iOS/Android operating
systems. Please contact your account representative to request a demo.

Release Instructions
In order to be able to experience all of the new functionality that has been added to
your environment, you may need to clear your browser cache. Please follow the
instructions listed below to clear your browser cache and then re-start your browser.
It may not be necessary for you to do this if you have automatically downloaded the
latest version. You can quickly check this by looking at the version number at the
bottom left corner of your login screen (Figure 1). If it is 5.6.0, then you do not
need to follow these next steps.
If you do need to clear your cache, in Internet Explorer 9 and 10, go to
FileInternet Options, then click on Settings under Browser History (Figure 2).

You should now see the following window (Figure 3).

Click on View Files, you will see another window with all the temporary files. You
can select all the files in this folder and click on Delete on your keyboard to delete all
the files. Close all the Internet Explorer windows that were open by clicking the OK
button. Now close all the instances of Internet Explorer you have open on your
computer.
Restart Internet Explorer and go to your SmartLinx URL. The updated version of the
application should now load.
Optional Step: To ensure you always get the latest release moving forward, set the
radio button option to Every time I visit the webpage on the Website Data Settings
screen (Figure 3).
The application will take longer to load initially, as it will need to store all new files
into the cache. If you performed the optional step, the application will typically take
longer to load.
