Hello Everyone,

You probably have noticed this symbol in the 55+ Guide – it’s the logo of the Alliance for Arlington Senior Programs. I hope you’ll recognize the important contributions this group has made to 55+ Programs and I want to explain how that happens. The Alliance is our private partner to Arlington County’s OSAP – something like a friends group that funds special programs and events.

They have sponsored musical performances, annual special events like the New Year’s Eve Party and Lee/Madison Talent show, a classical music appreciation class, theatre appreciation classes and a very popular series of food demos and nutrition programs. All this was offered under the leadership of Nort Beckerman, long-time 55+ supporter and presenter of programs on brain health. Nort chaired the Alliance since 2013 and we want to thank him for his hard work, dedication and support. He is now stepping down to pursue other personal goals and leaving the Alliance in the able hands of new Chair Doug Frost. Doug has lived in Arlington for over 30 years while working on Capitol Hill in various capacities and for two different Presidential administrations.

Please thank Nort and welcome Doug when you see them and keep up with Alliance news by visiting their website www.FriendsoftheAlliance.org
