Mercyhurst Prep’s caring and dedicated faculty and staff educate the whole student, challenging and inspiring students to be positive leaders in the world. MPS graduates are extremely successful at the college level based on their strong knowledge base of content, skills, tools, and critical thinking. I know this to be true because two of my children graduated from MPS and are leading successful, fulfilling lives! They remember their time on Mercyhurst’s charming campus fondly as it helped to develop their character, confidence, and compassion. Joe Schember, Mayor City of Erie

“My IB experience is already helping
me at Swarthmore. I have received
advanced placement in French,
history, religions, and English, and
I have really good study skills and
time management skills, so I
shouldn’t get too overwhelmed
when classes get more hectic. I’m
really enjoying my experience at
Swarthmore, and I think the IB
program played a huge part in my
relatively easy transition.”

“There are no differences between us. I love everyone equally. Thank you for gifting your children to us, over years and continents, so that they can be my friends.”

“This was the most liberating experience of my life. Traveling gives you a new perspective. I
appreciated every city for different reasons. I did a lot on my own, but solo traveling largely becomes about the people you meet on your journey; you develop a bond. I’m still in touch with some of those friends; they’ve become part of the fold.”
Marly Wittuck ‘04 Emmy Award Winner
“I teach people to understand people. A lot of times they don’t understand that different people see things differently and communicate in different
ways. I teach, especially new managers, to recognize those differences, and then how to manage
accordingly.”
Carla Fischer ’83 Founder of Annex Learning Inc.
“Public health work requires compassion and
dedication to serving others, often without
recognition. MPS allowed me to take my love for
science and run with it. I had so much support from my teachers to
pursue what I loved and be prepared for a future
where I could serve others.
Molly Peterson ‘10 Epidemiologist at the
Minnesota Department of Health/St. Paul
Tom has some advice for MPS students, and anyone who wants traveling the world to be part of their life plan. “If you can learn a foreign language it will open doors. You don’t have to do international sales. In many businesses, being bi-lingual is well respected among employers. It sets you apart from
others, as does any opportunity to go abroad and see how things are done in other parts of the world.”
