He purchased it as an impressive Bible. The Bible does not have any personalization other than the name of its owners embossed in gold on the leather cover. There are a number of loose papers tucked in the front. Two small pieces of paper with Family Record information appear to come from some other book -- the paper does not match that of the Bible at all. These sheets record 2 marriages, 4 births and 1 death. It appears as if the sheets are the two halves of the top of one family record page. I think the penmanship is interesting with elaborate lettering for part of the inscription and then simple script for the exact date. I gather from looking at family trees in ancestry and from your site that Alonzo Snyder born 24 Nov 1814 married first Mary Jane Stratton on 14 Sept 1837 and then Minerva G. Putnam 30 Jan 1849 after the death of Mary Jane 11 July 1848. Also attached in next e-mail is the front and back of a card image of an elegant lady apparently taken by Rice in Washington DC. The words Minerva Snyder Springwater NY appears on the back. Also attached is a chilling note 21 March 1890 from Josephine Snyder to Mrs. Snyder saying her son died unexpectedly this morning in Westchester. Perhaps you can figure out whether this is the Frank A. Snyder born 24 April 1848 as recorded on the family record sheet. I need to take photos of the other items to send them but these attached images are the ones that indicate a direct connection to Alonzo and Minerva Snyder.
