Dear East Elementary Families, Happy December! It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of the 2019 calendar year. It has been a wonderful fall and as we close out 2019, it is nice to take time to reflect and share the successes of the students at East Elementary. It has been another successful fall and I continue to be impressed with the students of East who have been working diligently, learning all the necessary
skills to make them successful, strong citizens. Their classrooms are full of learning and excite-ment as well as teachers and staff who care deeply for them. I trust that each of you had a wonderful conference visit with your child’s teacher(s). I know how valuable communication is to each of you, and your child’s teacher believes the same. This is a reminder that at certain times of the year, our teachers and specialists formatively assess groups of students to measure progress during the year. During the month of January, East Elementary will be administering a variety of formative assessments. We use the results to provide continued support for learning in the classroom. If you should have any questions about your child's pro-gress, that you did not receive during conferences, please contact your child's teacher or admin-istration. Additionally, we cannot thank you enough for your generosity with the PTO and Ballard Educational Foundation. Your PTO donations provided a lovely conference dinner for our staff and the Foundation has once again provided many new books and materials for our teachers to use with your children. Once again, our East families have gone above and beyond. As the winter break approaches, we look forward to celebrating during our class parties on De-cember 20th. Our students have been given many opportunities to recognize our great communi-ty and also continue traditions that make Ballard a great place to live and learn. From the annual BBQ, homecoming, music concerts, fall and winter parties, above and beyond awards, student council Toys for Tots to many more, students and staff have worked together to build relation-ships and celebrate the many opportunities we have been given. Ballard is a great place that works because we all work together to help empower all learners. In closing, when we ALL work together as a learning community and do things with our students' best interest as the focus, we become a GREAT school! If I can ever be of assistance, please call or email me. It is through being a collaborative learning community with consistent, honest, and open communication that we can best serve our students. Thanks for the opportunity to serve our GREAT community and I wish you all a happy holiday. We can’t wait to see you in 2020! Best regards, Mr. Michael Manock, Principal
