1.Multiplication of Indices

Example :

Solution

(a)35 x 34 = 35+4 = 39

(b) x = = = 62

2.Division of Indices

(am an = amnor)

Example :

Simplify the following(a)45 42(b) x

Solution

(a)45 42 = 452 = 43

(b)76 72 = 762 = 74

3.Number Raised to a Power

((am)n = am x n = amn(ab)n = an x bn)

Example :

Simplify the following(a)(83)4(b)

Solution

(a)(83)4 = 83 x 4 = 812

(b) = = 104
