1. Introduction
• Thisappliancehasbeendesignedtobeusedforoutdoorcooking,specificallyforpeoplewhogocampingtoenjoyoutdoorlifeandcanalsobeusedonapatio.
• Variousfoodtypescanbepreparedonthisappliance.TheCarriChef2isdesignedtoutilisevariouscookingsurfaces.• Gasissuppliedtotheunitviaahoseandregulator.Thehoseandregulatorcanbeconnectedtogascylinder,agascartridge,aCADAC
PowerPak1000whichisaunitthattakestwogascartridgesoraVerticalEN417RegulatorassemblyconnectedtoaEN417threadedgascartridge.(Notsuppliedwiththeappliance).
• Theunitiseasytoswitchon,andtooperate(Describedbelowinsection6)andtheusercancontroltheheatinputwithanadjustablevalve.
• Arecipebookissuppliedwiththisappliancetogivethefirsttimeuseranintroductiontooutdoorcookingoptions.

3. Safety Information
Hose• This appliance may only be used outdoors.• Ahoseandregulatorissuppliedwiththisappliance(SouthAfricaOnly)• Thehosemustbecheckedforwearordamagebeforeeveryuseandbeforeconnectingtothegas

Assemblyanduse• Theapplianceisdesignedtobeportable,thereforethelegsandtheutilitytrayiseasilyremovable
/assembledtheeaseoftransportanduse.• Userassembly/dis-assemblyislimitedtothefitmentofthelegs,utilitytray,andtheinstallation/
removalofcookingsurfaces.• Whenassemblingthelegs,alwaysmakesurethatthelegsecuringringshavebeensecurely
fastenedandthattheassembledproductisstableanddoesnotrock.DonotusetheappliancewithoutfittingtheAccessoriesTrayasitalsoplaysanimportantroleinensuringtheoverallsturdinessoftheappliance.

Leaks• Ifthereisaleakonyourappliance(smellofgas),immediatelyclosethecontrolknobonthegas
cylinder.Ifyouwishtocheckforleaksonyourappliance,doitoutside.Donottrytodetectleaksusingaflame;usesoapywater.
• Thecorrectwayistosmearthejointswithsoapywater.Ifabubbleorbubblesformthenthereisagasleak.Immediatelyturnoffthegassupplyfirstlybyclosingthecontrolvalveonthegascontainerandthentheappliancevalve.Checkthatalltheconnectionsareproperlyfitted.Re-checkwithsoapywater.Ifagasleakpersists,returntheproducttoyourCADACdealerforinspection/repair.
• Checkforleaksonthetailpiecebythevalveandonthecylinderregulatorfittingwithgasopenoncylinderbutnotopenorswitchedonbytheappliancecontrolknob.

5. Fitting and Changing the Hose and Gas Cylinder
• NOTE!Wheninstallingthetailpiece,ensureitisheldstraightwhiletighteningthetailpiecenut,inordertopreventapossiblegasleak.Tightenwithasuitablespanner.(Fig.5)
• I3B/P(30),I3B/P(37)andI3+(28-30/37)Appliancecategories:Fitthevalvetailpieceontothevalvebyscrewingitoninananti-clockwisedirection.Pushanapprovedhoseontothevalvetailpieceuntilitisproperlyseated.Ontheotherend,attachasuitablelowpressureregulator(I3B/P(30):30mbarButane/Propaneconfigurationsregulator;I3+(28-30/37):30mbarButaneregulatoror37mbarPropaneregulator);I3B/P(37):37mbarButane/Propaneconfigurationsregulators).Againmakingsurethatthehoseiswellseated.ThetypeofhoseusedshallcomplywiththerelevantENstandardandlocaterequirement.InSouthAfricatheregulatorusedmustcomplywithSANS1537.

• Thehoselengthshouldbenolessthan800mmandshallnotexceed1.5m.Checkthemanufacturedateonthehoseandreplacewhennecessaryorwhennationalregulationsrequireit.
• Donottwistorpinchhose.Ensurethehosedoesnotcomeintocontactwithanysurfacesthatwouldbecomehotduringuse.
• Beforefittingtheregulatortoagascontainer,ensurethatthesealontheregulatorisinpositionandingoodcondition.Thisshouldbedonewitheveryconnectionandbeforeeveryuse.
• Beforefittingyourgascylinder,ensurethattheValvesareallinthe“OFF”positionbyturningtheControlKnobclockwisetoitsstop.• Ensurethatthegascontainerisfittedorchangedinawell-ventilatedlocation,preferablyoutdoors,awayfromanysourceofignitionsuch
asnakedflamesorelectricfiresandawayfromotherpeople.• Makingsurethatthegascontaineriskeptupright,screwtheregulatorontothecontaineruntilitisfullyengaged.Hand-tightenonly.• Ifthereisaleakonyourappliance(smellofgas),closethecylindervalveimmediatelyandfollowtheproceduretodetectandstopaleak
underSection3.Ifyouwishtocheckforleaksonyourappliance,doitoutsideusingsoapywateronly,whichisappliedtothejoints.Aformationofbubbleswillindicatethegasleak.
• Checkthatalltheconnectionsaresecurelyfittedandre-checkwithsoapywater.Ifyoucannotrectifythegasleak,donotusethe appliance.ContactyourlocalCADACstockistforassistance.• Whenchangingagascontainer,firstlyclosethecontainervalve(iffitted)andthenturntheControlKnobclockwisetoitsstopposition.• Ensuringthattheflameisextinguished,unscrewtheregulator.Refitafullcontainerfollowingthesameprecautionsasdescribedabove.
6. Lighting the appliance
Precautions to observe before lighting.• Afterprolongedstorage,inspecttheAirHolesintheValveCoverforinsects,whichmayaffectgasflow.InspecttheinletoftheVenturi
forinsects.Afterchecking,refitallcomponentsintotheprescribedposition.• Use this appliance only on a fi rm level surface. Usingthecontrolknob Thecontrolknobisfittedwithtwopositivestoppositions,oneatlow,andoneatIgnite/High.Thislimitstheadjustmentoftheflameto
betweenthesetwopoints. LightingupusingthePiezoIgniter• Tolightuptheapplianceusingthepiezoigniter,pushinandturnthecontrolknobinananti-clockwisedirectionuntilyouhearaclick.
Ifthegasdoesnotigniteonthefirstspark,pushin,andturnthecontrolknobfullyclockwise.Tryagain,bypushinginandturningthecontrolknobanti-clockwiseuntilyouhearaclick.Ifthegashasnotignitedinthefirsttwotothreesecondsyoushouldclosethecontrolvalvebypushinginthecontrolknob,andturningitfullyclockwise.Waitapproximatelythirtysecondstoletanyaccumulatedgaswithintheburnerpanassemblyescape.Repeattheaboveprocessifnecessaryuntiltheflameignites.Theflameshouldnormallylightupwithinthefirstoneortwoseconds.
LightingupusingaBBQlighter• Whenstartingcold,theappliancemaybelitfromthetoppriortofittingthedesiredcookingsurfaceontothefatpan.Whenlightingup
ahotappliancehowever,itisrecommendedthatthisbedonebystickingbarbecuelighterthroughoneoftheVentHolesunderneaththeBurner,untilitisinlinewiththeburner(DONOTplacetheBBQlighterthroughthelargeholedirectlyunderneaththeburner).IgnitetheBBQlighter.WhilsttheBBQlighterislit,pushinandturnthecontrolknobanti-clockwisetolighttheburner.
General• Oncetheapplianceislit,theflameintensitymaybeadjustedbyturningthevalveknobanti-clockwisetoreducetheflame,orclockwise
toincreasetheflame.• Thefullyclosedpositionisatthefurthestclockwiseposition.Torotatethevalvefromthefullyclosedpositionitisnecessarytofirst
depresstheknobjustenoughtomoveoutofthelockmechanism.Whileholdingtheknobin,turnitinananti-clockwisedirection.Oncethespindlehasmovedoutofthelockpositionitisnolongernecessarytokeepthecontrolknobdepressedanditcanberotatedfreelytothedesiredflamesetting.
• TheflamemaybeobservedthroughtheInspectionHoleprovidedforthispurposeonthesideofthefatpan.• Whencookingfoodwithahighfatcontent,flaringmayoccuriftheselectedheatsettingistoohigh.Shouldthishappen,turntheheat
downuntiltheflaringceases.• Donotmovetheappliancewheninuseas,apartfrombeinganunsafepractice,tomovetheappliancewhilstlit,maycauseflaring.• Afteruse,firstclosethevalveonthegascontainer(whereapplicable).Whentheflamehasextinguished,closethevalveonthe
appliancebypushinginandturningtheControlKnobfullyclockwise.

8. General Maintenance
• Theonusofmaintainingthisappliancesolelyrestsontheconsumerfromdateofpurchase. Thisappliancedoesnotrequirescheduledmaintenance. ReplacingaBlockedJet:• YourCarriChefisfittedwithaspecificsizejettoregulatethecorrectamountofgas.• ShouldtheholeintheJetbecomeblocked,thismayresultinasmallflameornoflameatall.DonotattempttocleantheJetwitha
pinorothersuchdeviceasthismaydamagetheorifice,whichcouldmaketheapplianceunsafe.• To replace the Jet:Removethethreescrewsfromtheheatshieldplate(Fig.19).RemovetheHeatshieldplate(Fig.20),takingcare
nottodamagethepiezoelectrode.TheJet(Z)cannowberemovedusingasuitablespanner(Fig.21).Donotusepliersonthejetasthismaydamagethejet,makingitunusableorimpossibletoremove.Screwthenewjetintothevalve.Donotover-tightenasthismaydamagethejet.
• Reversetheaboveproceduretore-assembletheunit. ReplacingtheHose:• ThefittingofahoseisdescribedinSection4-Fittingandreplacingthehoseandgascylinder.

9. Cleaning
