Camosun College is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2021 and, after five decades, the college remains true to its roots as a place where students feel supported, included and where they can gain real skills to transform their lives and the future.

In January 1971, the college’s councillors voted to adopt the name “Camosun,” pronounced “Cam-O-sun,” a Lekwungen name meaning “where different waters meet and are transformed.”

WORKLEARNINGAt Camosun, over 90% of our academic and vocational programs offer students the possibility to engage in a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience. We offer WIL opportunities in a variety of forms, including co-ops, internships, practicums and strategic volunteering. Regardless of the WIL experience you participate in, the opportunity will allow you to elevate your skills and facilitate your transition into the job market after graduation.

INTERNSHIP Engage in full-time studies and full-time or part-time work, which may be paid or unpaid. You will need to complete at least one work term (minimum 300 hours) to graduate with an “Internship” designation.

PRACTICUM Observe working professionals on the job and practice the skills you have learned in class. You will need to complete a specific number of supervised practice hours (unpaid) to fulfill the practicum requirements for your program.
