Pretend that you are a commentator on your favourite sport. Write a commentary for a game or match, record it or perform it to your family. You could comment on a football game, a round of golf, a tennis match, a swimming race.

Find a picture of your favourite sportsperson and create a picture of them. You can choose to sketch using pencils, paint, collage, charcoals, etc. You choose and use whatever art materials you have at home.

Or you could use the attached information about Matisse’s cut out art called “painting with scissors” to create dancing figures. (see below).

Did you enjoy the VE Day celebrations? Ask your parents about your family history in World War 2. Did you have grandparents or great grandparents who served in the armed forces in the war? You may like to phone or video call your grandparents to find out about their experiences or their parent’s experiences in the war. Present your findings any way you want – an interview, a story, a newspaper report, a drawing/photo or collage with labels and writing. It’s up to you.

Compare and contrast.Write a list of similarities and differences between two books that you have read. You could compare and contrast the main characters from different books. You could compare and contrast the plot or the way it is written. You could even compare and contrast a book and a film version of that book. Eg. Harry Potter or The Boy in the Dress.

Practise some spellings of time adverbials. Create some colourful flashcards, drawing a picture on each to help you remember. Test yourself afterwards to see if you can remember them.

There are some sports related maths problems attached below. Choose which level suits you: core, challenge or super challenge! Can you make up your own sports related maths questions using some of the knowledge about converting units and time?

Create a mindfulness glitter jar.

1. Use a mason jar, jam jar or even a plastic bottle.

2. Use glitter that floats rather than sinks and add glycerine if you have it to slow the glitter down.

3. Make an eco-friendly one using small beads, food colouring and oil or even pieces of Lego.

4. Fill the jar to the top with water.

5. Seal the jar with its lid or duct tape.

Read a chapter of your book. Then think of some reading comprehension questions that you could ask. For example, could you ask about what particular words mean? Could you ask about the character’s feelings or intentions? Could you ask for an opinion or prediction?

Pretend that you are a sports person. Write a diary for that person. Would they be training for an event? Would they be competing or playing in a match? What would they eat? Are they on a strict schedule? How do they feel if they do not win or if they do win? Do they have to appear on TV interviews? How do they feel about life?

Write a sports poem. Could you use sounds from the sport? Descriptions of the game, colours, noises, smells, feelings? Be creative and see what you come up with.

Pulse rate: Each day, before you do PE, find your pulse rate, take your resting pulse rate for 30 secs and then double the amount of beats you counted. Record the rate. Do the PE activity. Take your pulse rate immediately after exercise and record. After 5 mins and 10 mins, take your pulse rate again and record. See the sheet below.

Find out everything you can about your favourite sports person. Create a report on this person using some of the interesting facts you found.
