5 Tips to Deter Vandals From Your Store
Vandalism at your business can become a real nuisance if you don’t
nip it in the bud early. You can definitely avoid to try avoid bad
neighbourhoods but unfortunately it can and does happen in even the
nicest suburbs. We have put together five handy tips to help prevent
your store from getting vandalised.
Sensor lighting
More often than not, vandals like to operate in the shadows.
Having lights running all night can be a big waste of electricity,
where as sensor lights will not cost as much and they will still
deter would be vandals.
Roller Shutters
Glass can be very expensive to replace, especially if you have a
problem with people breaking or vandalising it on a frequent
basis. There are a lot of options when it comes to security roller
shutters and exterior window shutters. We recommend
Maverick Roller Products who are an Australian company who
specialise in installation of all security shutters as well as a
wide range of commercial security products.
Graffiti
Graffiti can become a massive nuisance for businesses. Horrible
looking graffiti tags all over your store front can definitely
detract some people from wanting to enter your business.
Constantly having to hire graffiti removalists is one option but
this can become expensive and sometimes ineffective. Removing
them yourself with paint can also prove to be redundant. One
option is to look in to getting a street artist to do a nice mural
with your business name or some kind of art piece there
instead, this way you won’t have all those nasty tags on your
store front and rather some eye catching art.
Security Cameras
Having security cameras installed at your premises is a definite
deterrent to vandals. The more noticeable the better. Of course
you can also look in to business security services as well where
a security guard will come by your premise at night to check on
it. There are a lot of other business security options too, it just
comes down to how much money you want to spend.
Do Your Research
One of the common mistakes new business owners make is not
doing prior research in to the location. Speak to other local
businesses about whether they have problems with vandals.
Come by the place at night to see if there is people hanging
around there. Try to avoid opening businesses near train lines
or places that serve alcohol late at night where possible.
Hopefully these tips will help you prevent vandals from targeting
your business or at the very least minimise the amount of damage
they can do.
