Example:

This city has over 1 million people and is located on the Canadian prairies. It was once called “The Gateway to the North”. It is in the province between BC and Saskatchewan. The North Saskatchewan river flows through it. It has distinct four seasons – winter, spring, summer and fall and can be quite cold in the winter and hot in the summer. You can see the mountains from the west side of the city. It is south of the oil patch. It is north of Calgary.
