SACRAMENT OF THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST
As a parish, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is central to who we are and what we do.
Regular Mass Times are listed on the front of the
bulletin. Please contact the office for special Mass times during Lent and Holy Days of Obligation. To
receive formation for First Holy Communion,
contact the Parish Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION Essential to the Christian Life, the Sacrament of Confession is where we come into
contact with Christ who wishes to heal and bless us.
Regular Confession is an integral part of practicing
our Faith and experiencing the peace and joy of a
personal relationship with Jesus. 30 minutes before
every Mass, the Sacrament of Confession is offered. If you need to receive the Sacrament of Confession
for the first time, contact the Parish Office, 896-
9408.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Through the waters of Baptism, the new Christian enters the Church and is given Eternal
Life. To have your infant baptized, please contact
the Parish Office at least 2-4 months prior to the baby’s due date so that there is enough time to
complete preparation for the Sacrament.
Parents should be registered, participating members of the Parish Family.
Proposed Sponsors (Godparents) should be
attending Mass regularly. Both parents and sponsors receive a Baptismal Packet which must be
completed and received before attendance at a
Baptismal instruction class is scheduled. A Baptismal date is determined after all Church
requirements are satisfied.

SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE In the beginning, God created mankind
as one, male and female. Christ elevated this union to the level of a Sacrament, an image of His own love
for His Bride, The Church. Our Parish Family is
made up of many beautiful marriages who enrich the Church and the world. Couples discerning the
vocation of Holy Matrimony should contact the
Parish Office to begin the journey of preparing for their new life together no later than 6-9 months prior
to the desired wedding date.
SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK AND FUNERAL/BURIAL
ARRANGEMENTS The Church and her Sacraments
accompany us at every moment of our life. When
we are very sick or nearing the end of this life, we receive the healing of Christ through Anointing of
the Sick. Please contact the Parish Office, 896-9408,
to make an appointment. Also, contact the church office before
you contact anyone else in making funeral
arrangements. We are here to guide you through that most difficult time.

FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR MAY WORSHIP: In this month dedicated to the Mary, our Virgin Mother, we entrust ourselves to her maternal care that we may learn how to live as she did in humble response to God’s will in our lives. FAITH FORMATION: During this month of May, may all parents of our parish recommit themselves, under Mary’s motherly care, to teaching their children the rosary and committing to praying it as a family. May Mary guide to discipleship those to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this month. EVANGELIZATION: That we will genuinely ask our Blessed Mother to teach us how to better love her Son and share with others the joy of believing Him. SOCIAL JUSTICE: That Mary will teach us to love all humanity in the way in which she gave of herself to bring forth a Savior for all of humanity. BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: May Mary, our Mother direct our hearts of gratitude as we see the completion of the building and improvements to our parish facilities.

HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR MAY: EVANGELIZATION: The Mission of the Laity That the lay faithful may fulfill their specific mission, by responding with creativity to the challenges that face the world today.
THE MONTH OF MAY IS DEDICATED TO:
OUR MOST BLESSED MOTHER The month of May is a special time to honor Mary, our Blessed Mother. We honor Mary in our prayers and devotions to her, especially in our recitation of the Holy Rosary.
Honor our Blessed Mother and take advantage of her promises by joining the parish Rosary & Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary being prayed before all Masses in the month of May here at St. Peter’s.
OUR LADY’S 15 PROMISES TO THOSE WHO PRAY THE ROSARY Imparted to Saint Dominic and Blessed Alan de la Roche
1) Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive signal graces.
2) I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
3) The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
4) The Rosary will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire for eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
5) The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.
6) Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
7) Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
8) Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenititude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.
9) I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
10) The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.
11) You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
12) All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
13) I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.
14) All who recite the Rosary are my sons and daughters, and brothers and sisters of my only Son Jesus Christ.
15) Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

EASTER: A SEASON OF 50 DAYS! As we continue our Easter celebration, we anticipate the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord next Sunday, May 13th as we prepare for the Solemnity of Pentecost, Sunday, May 20th.

Grant me, the Spirit of Wisdom that I may despise the perishable things of this world and aspire only after the things that are eternal,
the Spirit of Understanding to enlighten my mind with the light of Your divine truth,
the Spirit of Counsel that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining heaven,
the Spirit of Fortitude that I may bear my cross with You and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation,

PRAY THE ROSARY FOR THE PRIESTS IN YOUR LIFE O Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us
and send us many and holy priests. When praying the rosary offer the first decade for the priest who baptized you, the second for the priest who gave you first Communion, the third for the bishop who confirmed you, the fourth for the priest who witnessed your marriage or the bishop who ordained you (or will do so in the future), and the fifth decade for the priest who will anoint you at your death.

REFLECTION: The early feminist leader Elizabeth Cady Stanton said, “When we consider that women are treated as property, it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit.” Authentic feminism is pro-life!
PRAYER: Lord, renew our society with a deeper appreciation of the true genius of women and of their role in a culture of life.
OUTSTANDING ALTAR SERVER AWARD
Altar Server John Paul Baudoin has been honored with the 2018 Outstanding Altar Server Award by the Serra Club of Lafayette. The award was presented to John Paul by Bishop Deshotel at the conclusion of our Confirmation Mass. We are humbled by his service and his dedication to our Church.
Fr. Ledoux and indeed all of us congratulate John Paul and all of our Altar Servers for the excellent job they do serving the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass here at St. Peter’s. All Altar Servers are eligible for being nominated for this yearly honor.

Centennial News MONTH OF MARY
Devotion to Our Lady has been a prominent theme of the people of the Diocese of Lafayette and of her Bishops. In 1953, Bishop Jeanmard
asked for all families to pray the Rosary declaring: “We do not place all our confidence in the atomic bomb or other lethal weapons of war, but in Jesus Christ and the intercession of our Blessed Mother to whom this Diocese owes so much.” Jeanmard and Bishop Schexnayder’s episcopal mottos, “Sub Tuum Praesidium” (Under Thy Protection) and “Ad Te Clamamus” (To Thee Do We Cry), are both taken from Marian prayers and express their devotion to her.
CENTENNIAL INDULGENCE An indulgence has been granted by Pope Francis to all Catholics of our Diocese during this year of Jubilee who visit our Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and pray the Centennial Prayer. (Please check the Diocese Centennial Webpage for the requirements to obtain the indulgence.) We encourage all to take advantage of this Spiritual Papal gift throughout the year.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
Jesus calls His disciples His “friends” and commands them to love one another as He has loved them. We are called to be stewards of this friendship; to love one another as Jesus loves us. Do we give serious attention to what this love requires of us? Does this require us to actively seek the welfare of others? What is the price of this friendship with the Lord?
ROSARY FOR PEACE - The Rosary for peace for our country and our soldiers will be prayed every Thursday before 6:30am Mass.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in You will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of Your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of Your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise You for Your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

FOOD FOR THE JOURNEY - The Central Deanery of the Diocese of Lafayette presents “Food for the Journey”, a monthly lunchtime speakers series designed to help Catholics live out our faith in our daily lives. Our speaker for May is Rev. Anthony Anala, SVD, Pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Lafayette. “Food for the Journey” will be held Tuesday, May 8th at River Oaks Catering and Event Center Lafayette, 520 East Kaliste Saloom Road, at 12:00noon.
