5What is a Design-Build Project?
• Design-Build Agreement is a fixed-price, performance-based contractwith a design-build firm
◦ A design-build contract includes a Statement of Requirementsthat sets out the contractor's design and construction requirements
◦ VSB can require specific design and construction elements aspart of the contract (e.g. materials, locations, dimensions, etc.)
◦ As part of the contracting process, VSB is seeking innovative ideas
+ Innovations may be found through efficiencies in thedesign-build process, the functionality of the new building, through the construction methods used, and in the designand appearance of the new building
