The Toyota Eco Youth Challenge drew to a close on 29th September 2016 with students from 14 participating schools experiencing solid waste management which is the theme for this year’s challenge. The nationwide programme encourages students to take ownership of the environmental problems in their community.

At the event in the presence of Pn. Roslina Mohd Roslin, Principal Assistant Director, from the Ministry of Education, Mr. Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor said “Making environmentally-sound decisions in our everyday lives are the only way we can stop further decline to the planet.

IsUZU TRUCK DeALeRs ReCeIVe TOP CeRTIFICATION: Nine Isuzu outlets were recently presented with their Isuzu Medium-Heavy Duty (MHD) Truck Authorised Service Centre plaques by Isuzu Malaysia’s CEO Mr. Kenji Matsuoka. Following the certification, these outlets are officially recognised as flagship Isuzu truck service centres, capable and dedicated to handle all classes of Isuzu trucks, particularly the medium-duty Forward and heavy-duty Giga models. The outlets operated by Automotive Corporation Malaysia (ACM), Indah Utara Auto, Jumbo Arena and Ultra Gallant located in the states of Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Pahang are the pioneer dealers to achieve this status in the programme while outlets in East Malaysia are expected to gain their certifications soon.

LIFesIZe mODeL OF 2016 ReNAULT FORmULA 1 CAR ON TOUR: C Euro Cars, the sole franchise holder of Renault cars in Malaysia, displayed a life size model of the 2016 Renault R.S. 16 Formula One car at selected Renault showrooms and roadshow locations from 19th July until 28th August 2016. Also held at the same time was a range of activities for both adults and children visiting the roadshow. Test drives of the Renault Captur and Fluence were also made available while three radio stations offered live coverage.

BMW Malaysia continues creating awareness and driving action for on-road and in-car safety technology and practices for parents and children in collaboration with the Association of Registered Childcare Providers Malaysia (PPBM). On 30th August 2016, the third edition of BMW Safety 360° programme was conducted at Krista Education in Bukit Antarabangsa, Kuala Lumpur. This was followed another held at the Cooler Lumpur Festival 2016, South East Asia’s first and only festival of ideas on 14th September 2016. The BMW Safety 360° programme is a six-month long safety awareness programme where BMW Group Malaysia will be visiting selected Kindergartens and Montessori centres throughout Malaysia.

Ford Motor Company kicked off the 11th annu-al Global Caring Month in September 2016 with some 20,000 Ford volunteers from more than three dozen countries around the world signing up for community projects, including a growing number of emerging markets from Cambodia to Laos, and Myanmar to Samoa.

This year, Ford together with its local distrib-utor Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) contin-ued its charitable giving at the Lovely Nursing Centre in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. A total of 40 employees from Ford and SDAC vis-ited the elderly and less fortunate at the Lovely

Nursing Centre. “Ford Global Caring Month is one of the

Perodua in collaboration with the Berita Hari-an Education Unit organised on 28th August 2016 a Form 3 Evaluation (PT3) Seminar attended by 200 students and this year expanding its educa-tional programme to SMK Seri Garing, a school outside Hulu Selangor area.

“We invited SMK Seri Garing to join this pro-gramme with three selected schools within Hulu

Selangor because they are near to our commu-nity and we are happy to receive a good response from them.

We would like to thank the schools for partic-ipating and Berita Harian for their commitment in co-organising this event,” President and CEO of Perodua, YBhg. Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

Perodua held its first Friday prayer at its newly completed RM9.8 million Masjid with a total congregation capacity of 3,000 worshipers at its headquarters on 5th August 2016 after two years of construction.

“We hope this Perodua Masjid would be able to become the centre of all the community’s needs,” Perodua President & CEO, YBhg. Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

In line with state law, the Masjid was handed over to the Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (Selangor Department of Islamic Affairs), which in turn entrusted the administration of the Masjid to a sponsor committee led by En. Noor Hashiman Sulaiman, who is also the chairman for the Badan Agama Islam Perodua. n
