    Week 3 Bonus Challenge Submissions

    Bonus Challenge:

Take a picture of how you are accomplishing each challenge AND explain it. The purpose of these bonus challenges is to

share your ideas with others. Remember, the challenges get harder each week and so do the bonus challenges.

I am increasing my consumption of fruits and veggies by prepping them ahead of time. Im often lazy at night and dontmake my snacks and lunch up for the next day, so I am rushing in the morning to do it. Since I have limited time, I often

dont want to cut up or wash something. By having things I can grab and go, it makes me more likely to eat these healthy

    choices. ~ Karen Bykowski, Bolingbrook

Ive selected the 5 servings of fruits/vegetables challenge this week. Ive discovered/realized/concluded that food

items do not have to be part of a dish in order to eat them. (Duh, right?) Chunks of zucchini or cucumber are part of a

good while youre working lunch they dont get your keyboard sticky or crumby. :) Ive also changed my eligible

snack foods to include more fruit it is ready to go (once you wash it!) and portion controlled by design. Im also putting

more fruits and veggies in front of my young kids at dinner time; they are even eating some of them.

The attached picture is part of my lunch/snacks today apple, kiwi, yogurt with strawberries, zucchini, cucumber! ~

I choose Challenge #3 Abstain from soda.

Attached are some of my alternatives I have been drinking this week. I would have one can of diet soda with my lunch

everyday but am now having Sparkling ICE flavored water- I found that this still gives me the carbonation like a soda and

great fruit taste also has vitamins and Antioxidants in it. And the V8 fusion Blueberry/Pomegranate gives me my fruit

    and veggie serving.

Of course I always have my water bottle at my desk now have added fresh lemon to change things up a little.~ Carol

    Bessette- Neenah Plant

This week I choose challenge option #2 eat at least 5 servings of fruits/vegetables each day. To help reach that goal I

have brought to work each day a variety of fruits and veggies grapes, oranges, carrots, celery, etc to snack on

throughout the day. I use hidden valley ranch dips for the carrots and celery which is a nice snack to have instead of

going to the vending machine. ~ Amy LeMere, ORBIS Menasha

Water intake has always been a challenge for me. To help conquer challenge for Week 3, I fill up a 16oz cup (marked

w/8oz line) as soon as I arrive at work--refilling as needed. I set Outlook Reminders throughout day in 8oz increments &

snooze reminder until I complete my 8oz intake. Using WaterLog App on my phone to keep track. ~ Bonnie Holz,

All ready to make a big salad that includes multiple servings of veges. To increase my intake: When I am making supper,

I munch on baby carrots instead of grabbing something unhealthy. I also will add fruit to my plain Greek yogurt usuallystrawberries. Surprisingly your number of daily servings really adds up. ~ Sue Gloede, Folding Carton Group

I choose option 4, drink 48 oz of water a day. I struggle to put fluids into my body. I just dont really think about

drinking anything. Ive been that way my entire life. I would only have on average 2 small beverages a day. So in order

to keep track of exactly how many ounces of water I am consuming a day I would drink from my protein shaker. I did

this because it is marked for me on how many ounces I have already drank and how many more I need to drink. I also

did a little research and discovered that drinking 48 oz of water is not enough for me. You are supposed to drink half of

your body weight in water. So I drank 25 oz of water during my morning workout (see attached gym_water), then I

would mix my vitamin B (see Vitamin B picture attached) with water in my protein shaker for another 25 oz for my post

workout, and later at work I would fill up my protein shaker 2 more times with water and I have been drinking this 50 ozof water throughout the day. So on average I have been drinking 100 oz or more a day to make sure that I exceed half o

    my body weight.

I sent Menasha Forward a message on Facebook (see attachment news). My exciting results from this weeks challenge

is from the morning of Monday, March 17 the morning of Friday, March 21 I am down 6 lbs by drink the 100 + oz of

water. I really feel like I took this challenge and ran with it. I have felt so energized this week and I have worked out 5

times. Im hoping to continue with this challenge as a lifestyle change because I really love the way I look and feel this

week with all of this hydration. ~ Kristin Waddicar, Santa Fe Springs

This week I am working on the fruits and vegetables challenge. I sauteed a ton of veggies ie mushrooms, peppers,

broccoli, zucchini, onions, etc and have been eating them with meals and as snacks. It helps having a variety of cooked

veggies ready to go. Yum! ~ Amy Kumaraperu, Corporate

For the bonus challenge for the week 3 I submitted few dish which shows my plan to have fruit and vegetable.Stuffed

bell pepper the picture I submitted was when I made,Yum:::;;;;;; All kind of bell pepper included red, orange and green,

onion, tomato carrot etc with little of chick peas flour, salt to taste garlic, ginger curry powder lemon juice chilli powder

bread crumbs etc.very delicious dish which includes numerous vegetable.Another hit was with homemade yogurt with

    fresh fruit mix work well.

opinion: Lack of time was often a obstracle.Solutions are nothing without commitment. To overcome the unexpected

temptation a solid back up plan strategy was developed, like prepare fruit and veggie dish day before pack and ready to

take next day to work, double up on receipe to keep extra meal or dinner on hand when evening seems to be busy so

goal can be achieved not to eat after 8 pm.Will power become weak when you struggle to do on time and you know you

will be under stress .In this situation some extra left over will help to overcome the situation and you will be still cool

and calm.It was a learning curve to strenghten the back up plan.Love it.Still lots of hurdle to overcome but successful for

this week.Need little more work in some aspect. This week I had a papaya fruit. Yummy.....Love to have more and more.

I combined protein powder and a cup of frozen fruit with some water in a blender to make a smoothie. There are quite

a few recipes for healthy smoothies that use both fruits and vegetables on the Internet. ~ Julie Weyenberg, MPC Home

For this week's challenge, I am drinking 8 8-oz. glasses of water every day. In the picture above, I keep my ORBIS water

bottle filled at all times so that I can accomplish this task. This is very difficult for me because I am not a water drinker

for one, and for two, I don't usually drink enough liquids in a day on a regular basis. I make sure I take a drink every 1/2

hour and also whenever I feel hungry. I have found that I misinterpret my thirst queue for a hunger queue, so I find

myself snacking instead. I have found that drinking water has helped keep myself hydrated and has also kept my hunge

in check. ~ Valerie Knetzger, Oconomowoc
