Content Analysis
Action Potential Learning recommendation: Student should demonstrate mastery of most frequently tested TEKS first before mastering less frequently tested TEKS. Based on two years of data, frequently tested TEKS are consistent between years. **TEKS are the content covered in a student’s school and can be found on the next page (Assessed Curriculum).

STAAR Study Recommendations
Testing strategies:Teach students to use process of elimination for every single question: Cross out wrong answers, underline answers that could be right, then finally circle the correct answer.Teach students to skip around on the test: Circle questions that seem difficult or you are unsure of, then come back to them at the end of the test.Mark every question: If students run out of time or cannot answer a difficult question by process of elimination, randomly guess. Students should choose ONE answer choice to use as their “guessing” answer and fill in any leftover questions with their guessing answer. Only a few questions should be guessing questions, if any, if the student if sufficiently prepared.
Study strategies:If students use or have access to a Pearson textbook via counselor or library, that is the textbook that should be used to study content (Pearson is the creator of the Texas STAAR). Students should become used to taking tests by using additional released tests as practice. The Texas Education Agency has released only one test. Other tests may be used from states with end of course exams: North Carolina and Florida are similar (but not exact) to the Texas tests.

Students should master most common tested Texas Content first.
