211 Monday Reading: 30-40 minutes of reading. As you read remember that great readers take
sneak peaks to find out WHO the charters are WHERE the setting is and WHAT the problem will be.
Reading log – Complete the reading log every time you read a book at home. Fill out all sections of the reading log.
Bring back book baggies with ALL books inside.
Writing: (Realistic Fiction) – We are in a Realistic Fiction unit. In your homework notebooks write an introduction telling the character, setting, and character feelings. (Parents some ideas: losing an item, breaking a toy, wanting something new)
Math: Short Response #1 and Math review
Social Studies: Read the attached article and answer the questions.
Personal Sight word: Practice saying and spelling your personal sight words daily.
Tuesday Reading: 30-40 minutes of reading. As you read remember that great readers take track the characters as they read by stopping and retelling themselves what happened so far.
Reading log – Complete the reading log every time you read a book at home. Fill out all sections of the reading log.
Bring back book baggies with ALL books inside.
Writing: (Realistic Fiction) – Using your introduction from yesterday, re-read it. Then continue growing your story. Include the problem. What’s going wrong?
Math: Short Response #2. Math Review
Personal Sight word: Practice saying and spelling your personal sight words daily.
Wednesday Reading: 30-40 minutes of reading. As you read remember that great readers think about how the problem is getting better or worse as they read.
Reading log – Complete the reading log every time you read a book at home. Fill out all sections of the reading log.
Bring back book baggies with ALL books inside.
Writing: (Realistic Fiction) – Re-read your story. Now try to fix the problem two times. Make sure to include feelings, talk and action.
Math: Short Response #3 and Math review
Science: Read the attached article and answer the questions.
Personal Sight word: Practice saying and spelling your personal sight words daily.
Thursday Reading: 30-40 minutes of reading. As you read remember that great readers think about how the problem got solved.
Reading log – Complete the reading log every time you read a book at home. Fill out all sections of the reading log.
Bring back book baggies with ALL books inside.
Writing: (Realistic Fiction) – Re-read your story. Now fix the problem to end the story. Also correct 5 misspelled words. Make sure all sight words are spelled correctly.

Iris was excited because it was her first day of school. It was a warm, sunny day, so Iris got to wear her new sandals. Mom told Sara and Iris, “Walk straight down Church Ave, don’t take the shortcut!” “Okay,” they said.
As they walked down Church Ave, Iris had an idea. Iris said, “Let’s take the shortcut.” Sara mumbled, “But mommy said…” “Who cares, let's go!” Iris called as she ran ahead. When they turned the corner, they saw a dog. It was a huge dog. They thought it was a nice dog…but then it growled. “Grrrrr!” They were terrified once they saw its big pointy teeth.
“Oh nooo I can’t let the dog get us!” Iris thought. They took off. Iris held Sara’s hand and they ran as fast as the wind – WHOOSH! The dog barked so loud they froze. Iris and Sara thought about another plan.
Iris said “Let's try crawling, maybe he won't see us.” Sara agreed and they bent down to crawl. They crawled closer and closer to the dog. Then...the dog barked ferociously. Iris’s face turned pale - “I think we should go the long way.” Sara and Iris got up and ran the opposite way to school. They kept running until they got there.
“Don’t cry!” Iris whispered. She was trying to act brave so Sara wouldn’t know she was really frightened. Ms. Parker opened the door for them and they quickly ran inside. They were huffing and puffing as they fell to the floor. Iris gave Sara a high five and smiled.
