There were 32 motor vehicle stops, 14 accidental/prank 911 calls, five reports of missing/loose livestock and 11 reports of barking/lost/loose dogs.
Saturday, June 291932 – A male reported he re-
turned from an outage call to the NWE shop and discovered that someone had run into the back of the building with a vehicle and left a tire and other debris at the scene. An officer determined a possible suspect. Another male loaned the possible suspect his Bobcat.
2027 – A male reported that someone backed into the rear pas-senger door of his vehicle.
2323 – A female reported someone keeps throwing stuff and hitting her window.
Sunday, June 300021 – A St. Marie female
reported the dogs next door were going wild and barking/snarling. She turned on the light, looked out and saw someone with a flashlight heading around the back of the garage. It was deter-mined that it was a pair of kids trying to catch their two tan Pit Bull type dogs that got loose.
0859 -A St. Marie male called in stating there is a dog running loose by his house that is attack-ing or trying to attack people. He said the dog is a mixed breed, tan/white in color, no collar, no tags. He stated that one of the Valley County dispatchers was cornered on his lawn and had to pull his gun on the dog. The caller states the owner cannot catch the dog, and the dog has been loose all night. The caller said he has a blood disease and should this dog bite him, he could bleed to death. The caller was advised to stay in his residence. Another male called in and verified the incident. He said both he and his sister are willing to sign complaints about the dog. A responding officer received three written complaints and a citation was issued to the owner of the dog.
1841 – A male reported that there is a female sleeping in the underpass.
Monday, July 11925 – A male caller wanted to
speak with a deputy about some issues he is having with some people who recently moved in that aren’t following the rules of the association. He has had a confrontation with them because of it.
1949 – A caller reported that there is a huge skunk running around at a vacant house. The skunk is about the size of a cocker spaniel. She wanted to know if there was someone from animal control that she could call. She was advised she could try calling fish and game.
2115 – A female wanted to speak with an officer. She said a male was kicked out of the resi-
dence but wasn’t able to get his belongings.
2258 – A vehicle driving around Sullivan Park was driv-ing around with its lights off. Two males, two females and one juvenile was reported to be in the vehicle.
Tuesday, July 21434 – A male requested an
inspection on a homemade trailer. He advised he has the paperwork and the VIN stamped on it.
1509 – A male is arguing and yelling at a woman in the Reyn-olds parking lot.
1615 – An anonymous caller reported that there’s an underage girl selling fireworks. He saw her about 20 minutes ago.
1932 – A caller reported that there are kids racing around in a wheat field south of town. He then stated dispatch could disregard because the kids are there now and he is going to talk to them.
Wednesday, July 31047 – A male advised he is
headed into Glasgow from Nash-ua and said there is a vehicle that is all over the road. He reported a newer black Oldsmobile is cross-ing the center line and the white line. The caller did not want to write out a statement, he just wants to make sure the person is okay and didn’t want someone getting hurt.
1109 – A male reported a maroon SUV that is repeatedly going into oncoming traffic and only going about 20 MPH. He said there is a middle-aged guy driving and a child is also in the vehicle. The car is headed south-bound towards Fort Peck. The caller provided a plate number and advised he is willing to write out a statement if needed. While on the phone with dispatch, the caller reported the driver just went back into oncoming traffic and almost hit a camper head-on.
1428- A female notified that people camping in the west end campground are lighting off fire-works in the area. She stated it is unsafe due to generators and gas cans in the area.
1515 – A complainant report-ed he is receiving threatening text messages from another male.
1612 – The caller reported that someone is setting off firecrack-ers behind her house. It’s upset-ting her dog and it’s about to have a seizure. The caller was advised of the current rules regarding fireworks.

FMDH Foundation Announces Recipients of the 2019 Medical Field Scholarships
MARy KATE TIHISTAFOR THE COuRIER
The FMDH Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of the 2019 medical field schol-arships. The FMDH Foundation scholarship program started in 1990, with the first family memorial gift given in 1989 by Frank Heckner. In order to have a named memorial, a donation of $10,000 or more must be do-
nated to the FMDH Foundation. We have had two nursing schol-arships started this year by Sever and Ester Enkerud and Keith and Deborah Guenther. It is a great way to honor a family member and continue their legacy and passion for great healthcare in our community, by encouraging and helping our area medical students.
This year the Foundation awarded 18 scholarships with
a total of $25,000 given to the following students:
The Frank Heckner Scholar-ship was established Oct. 19, 1989, by Frank Heckner. Mr. Heckner was a bachelor who farmed in the Richland, Mont., community. He was a great supporter of Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital and the Foundation.

Governor Bullock Opens New Infrastructure Grant Program
FOR THE COuRIER
Governor Steve Bullock an-nounced on July 9 that com-munities and school districts impacted by the growth or decline of natural resource development can now apply for a portion of $21.5 million in funds for needed infrastructure investments.
“Investing in Montana’s com-munities and schools is essential for continued economic growth, the support of good-paying jobs, and for educating the future leaders of Montana,” Governor Bullock said. “I’m encouraging local communities and school districts to get their applications submitted so we can get to work on critical infrastructure projects across the state.”
The Delivering Local As-
sistance Program was created in 2019 to support communities impacted by natural resource development. Specifically, this program will focus grant funds toward local governments and schools to address the needed investments in facilities and other community infrastructure priori-ties across Montana.
The program was included in the $400 million infrastructure investment package passed by the 2019 Legislature and signed by Governor Bullock to assist local governments impacted by growth or decline associated with coal, oil or gas development and allevi-ate infrastructure strains.
In total, $21.5 million in grants are available. Of that, $10.75 million will be distributed to local infrastructure projects and
$10.75 million will be distributed to school district infrastructure projects as defined in the bill. This allocation of funding is a one-time authorization available for the 2021 Biennium. These application guidelines explain how to complete the application process to be considered for an award of funds through the DLA program.
The Community Develop-ment Division at the Montana Department of Commerce is ad-ministering the new infrastructure program. Interested communities and school districts can apply for grant funds until Sept. 30. Awards will be made in the fall of 2019.
Application materials and more details can be found at comdev.mt.gov.
