Dear Reader,

Welcome to the first issue of 48:Eight magazine, a regular bi-monthly newsletter featuring artists interviews, opportunities and other fun things!

So, what to put into a first issue? We could talk about the weather, winter has finally arrived, and after a rather spectacular summer by most peoples standards we are now definitely feeling the difference! Gone are the opening nights standing outside the gallery with a glass of wine in hand, now we actually have to stand INSIDE the galleries… quelle horror! But there is always something positive to come out of winter, the leaves turning beautiful hues of red and orange, the crunching of leaves under our feet, playing conkers, curling up with a movie and a cup of tea… ok ok, I was doing that in the summer time too… who wasn’t!?

But as our innaugral issue I want to set a few things straight. We don’t want to overload you with info, to bore you from the beginning, so it’s good to know that, predominantly this newsletter is going to be visual. There will be some text, and sometimes more than at other times. But with the visual theme in mind, we would like to invite you to think about how you can take part. We are always open to feature reviews that you want to send in, and to feature all your news and opportunities. So get in touch, we don’t bite (hard)…

Got an idea for an article? want to have your work featured? Or maybe you want to work on a theme for an entire issue. Send us a message and let us know you are there! Email: [email protected]

With that said I want to thank Xana Ribeiro for her contribution for this first issue, a rather fitting rainy scene adorning our cover.

So, enough said, enjoy the show!

Jenny has studied in Brighton and currently holds a studio within The School Creative Centre, the home of 48:Eight Gallery.
