St. Timothy urges that “…supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings be offered for everyone, for kings and for all in authority, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life.” Who among us doesn’t need to be reminded to be faithful to prayer and to rely on Christ our savior. That is especially true when the concerns of family or work or the world weigh heavy upon us. Set aside ten minutes each day this week to sit quietly in prayer. Place your concerns before God and be open to where God will lead.

Collaborative

Book Club

Our next Collaborative Book

Club will meet on

Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at

7pm at the St. Francis of

Assisi Dining Hall

Our next book to read and share in discussion is:

Everybody Needs to Forgive Somebody

A note from the book’s author, Dr. Allen Hunt, who is a team member at

Dynamic Catholic:

We have a limited number of copies of the book available for purchase at our office at a discounted rate of $3.00 each. If you are interested in joining the Collaborative Book Club, please contact the Parish Office to sign up. We look forward to seeing you!

“Forgiveness will unleash a power in your life that is underrated and often ignored. It is underrated mainly because it is underused. We fail to capture the power of forgiveness because we are afraid of it, because we have grown comfortable in

our familiar wounds, or because we are sinfully stubborn. But the power is there waiting for us.

The lesson is simple: Give forgiveness and you will unleash a flood of grace on yourself and on those around you. When you clench your fists and grit your teeth in anger toward someone, you have no

room in your heart for God to place His hand in yours. Replace your clenched fist with an open hand and watch as God fills your soul to overflowing.

This little book, and the twelve real-life stories in

it, will help you capture the power of forgiveness in

your life. Because everybody needs to forgive

somebody.”

Twenty-Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

St. Joseph Parish Concert

The St Joseph Parish Music Ministry will be presenting our annual Parish Concert at

St. Joseph's on Sunday afternoon, October 13th at 2PM. Our adult and youth choirs and "The Messengers" (our young adult music group) will be performing, and there will be an opportunity for the audience to join with us in singing!

In conjunction with the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, this year's program is dedicated to All Those Who Serve...and to service in all of its forms…, and will once again consist of a varied program of sacred, classical and popular selections.

There will be a luncheon in the social center following the concert, catered by Carroll's Restaurant in Medford (kindness of parishioner, Attorney Victor Garo).

Would you like to be a part of our Parish Concert Program?

The St. Joseph Music Ministry would be honored if you would consider supporting our ministry by placing an ad in our upcoming annual parish concert program. A portion of the proceeds from our concert ad book will be donated to “Disabled and Limbless Veterans”, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing meals, clothing, and shelter to America’s most needy Veterans and their families.

We have many options to choose from: Back Cover (5 ½” x 8 ½”) $250 Inside front or back cover (5 1/2“ x 8 1/2“) $200 Full-page (5 1/2“ x 8 1/2“) $100 Half Page (5 ½” x 4 ¼”) $60 One-Third Page (5 ½” x 2 7/8”) $45

If you are honoring a loved one who served/is serving in the military or is a first responder (Police/Fire/EMT), etc., and would like to include a photo, the ad would need to be at least 1/2 page to be most effective. Please contact us as soon as possible as our program book is filling up quickly!

You can send your ad copy and payment or donation (checks made out to St. Joseph Parish) to Betsy Pesce, Music and Liturgy Director, St. Joseph, 114 High Street. We would be most grateful for your support in this very special parish event, and thank you in advance for your consideration.
