Reason for PM-10 Alley project(fugitive dust reduction)

• Fines• Project Repercussions• Chandler committed to county-wide

efforts to achieve 5% reduction in airborne particulates per year

Regularly scheduled street rehabilitation projects produce asphalt millings as a byproduct

Millings are hauled to and stockpiled at City dump sites

Seal alley millings with SS-1h oil,Using water to help oil penetrate

into the millings

Coordinate trash can replacement in alleys

Alley Stabilization by the numbers

•Current contract amount:$612,795 ($5.00 per Sq Yd)

•2008 stabilized 10.6 miles of alleysand 7.3 curb miles of shoulders

•2009 15.8 miles of alleys and 2.0 curb miles of shoulders

•2010 plan 13.8 miles of alleys

2009 Project Materials:

• Crushed 20,500 tons of asphalt millings and used about 20 000 tons in theand used about 20,000 tons in the alleyways

• 1,500 gallons of oil sprayed at a rate of 0.10 to 0.15 gallons per Sq Yd.

Final product, lower dust contaminates and public

pride in neighborhoods
